NOTES: Miles again praised freshman wide receiver D.J. Chark of Alexandria Senior High on the SEC spring teleconference as he did throughout spring drills. "D.J. was very strong all spring," he said. … Miles also said offensive lineman K.J. Malone of Cedar Creek High in Ruston had "a big spring."

Eat shite stargazers.
Supercoool... His last season in TS was like a perfect storm of fearless strong armed QB putting on a "how to use the best WR duo in the nation" clinic!

Third downs sure were fun that season.

WINTER IS COMING.

Oh, you didn't know?
TW was a 5star Rival's CB so I wouldn't say that he wasn't highly respected coming in but maybe he kinda got lost in the pack at DBU? I do remember a couple of recruits dads acting ticked off when they gave him his 5th star even though he was always a QB while their boys were all american cbs their whole careers. That just told me that White was a far superior athlete and yet he still managed to hit the ground running at DBU.

So yeah... he is elite no matter what writers say.

For that matter, so am I.

These sanctions on early enrollees could be way worse that most people realize. Go and take a look at the early enrollees that we will lose out on and then see which ones will end up at bama because of this.

The SEC REC would never risk doing something this bold without the payoff being worth the bad PR. I'll bet that some of our biggest targets will be early enrollees over the next two years.

This could ruin the team for a while and directly benefit them.

Don't get me started. It's not like the guy didn't see how bad of a choice leaving early was for our two best DTs just last year AND how much of a void was felt by the entire team when the DL should have been a strength.

Maybe Chavis just got tired of developing stars and not reaping any of the benefits?
"Awesome is as awesome does"

Sometimes I think that Les gets all caught up with these athletic manimals who look awesome in practice but get exposed as sub-par passers with serious confidence issues in real games.

Mett, for instance, had the most confidence that I've ever seen at the NCAA level which was a perfect fit with the most trustworthy WR duo in the nation that year. Imagine how badly those two WRs would have been underutilized with a guy like JJ at QB for their Jr seasons.

Even with great recs that year Mett delivered many great passes that got dropped but he constantly delivered those balls and the catches came. You need that level of play from the starting QBs of top SEC teams like LSU. Even though I love Miles as LSUs coach, he needs to field top passers at that position or the offense will never reach its potential. LSU already has one of the top 5 backfields in the nation to rush the ball, the QB OBVIOUSLY needs to be able to maximize the production of one of the top WR groups in the nation.

but you cant scheme around a bad oline.

so true... So many things have to be clicking to have success on offense that the uncertainty of bad OL play just seems to almost suck the life out of players and coaches after a while.

Tenn was damned lucky that Mett was still avail where they got him and if they can find a sucker club who wants to sell their souls for one of those two Heisman QBs then tenn could build one great foundation for their future with this draft.

I would love to see them pick up LC at a lower 1st round pick and load up on defense for most of their remaining picks. GOO METT!!

Touchy?

Again, before blaming the OC, I would blame the two DTs who couldn't wait to leave LSU even though neither of them was ready and the team needed them very badly. FYI, the defense would have had much better 4th stamina with their two senior DT starters in the rotation than they would without them. Also, our MLBs don't have to deal with 20 untouched RBs per game at full speed up the middle when our two best DT are on the field.

Thats just how I see it. Players leaving early has never bothered me until this year. The team felt the losses of OBjr, Landry and Hill very much but it was their times to go and I will always be fans of theirs. Those two DTs are a different story though. I also feel the same way about Hunter and could care less if he ever plays a snap on Sundays.

I definitely mentioned that the play calling pissed me off as well.
Oh god dont tell me... I've been overseas for more than a month.

HOLYSHIT WTF

STEELE?

re: Cam Cameron On The Hot Seat?

Lets see... Cam had to replace four phenomenal NCAA play makers who are currently...

2 current NFL star WRs as rookies
A Starting NFL RB as a rookie
A starting NFL QB as a rookie

And even with all of the youth on offense most of the losses were very close with the defense breaking down at the end. I still think that 3 or 4 of our losses would have gone our way if those two DTs wouldn't have prematurely bolted for the NFL early with crappy draft grades.

I admit to getting frustrated with the same old mundane offensive play calls but nobody expected a team with more teenage starters than not to handle LSUs schedule much better than they did.

It would be nice to see those mustang sets dominate again. Chavis will need a few of those young DL trench warriors to get Moffitized so that he can field six or seven of those speed demon DBU assassins all together in those hybrid dime and nickels.

There's nothing wrong with having 6 or more 1st and 2nd rounders in your secondary as long as they all see the field.

I wrote that drunk and really don't feel as strongly as that post looked.

I definitely think that Les should put a lot of effort into keeping guys who aren't first or second round talent in Purp and Gold. The only way that I can see it really happening is if the players can get some kind of insurance against career ending injuries. As long as a player can have his entire career ruined by some Auburn prick player for no reason other than the fact that Auburn or Miss st players are wretched then I can't blame the guys for leaving.

If some kind of insurance can be made available through LSU or privately then I have to think that a player pretty much owes it to the team to make sure that he wont leave the team in a huge bind at his position without him being a top pick. Being a top pick trumps everything else though.

I guess that it just drives me a little batty watching those two losses and knowing that they would have turned out very different with Freak on the DL. Props to the staff for developing those youngsters as quickly as they have though. No other team could have survived those early departures and only have two losses with a team that might run the table from here on out even though they are facing Bama next week.
I'm am a little disappointed in the lack of faith that some of my Tiger brethren have against the war chickens in their house.

The lack of a rotation at DT was our downfall in both of our losses. Although the DL isn't quite where we would like to see them, they have improved enough to hold their own. The rest of the team has also improved and as a whole, this Tiger team can beat anyone.

The best part of it all is that we will pretty much be anb improving team for the next couple of years so the fun is just beginning.

I laugh at a war chicken. It is now time to snap that gump streak and restore the natural order or LSU dominance.

Those are interesting angles MTB, From our point of view, those faggies are wannabe pre Madonnas. Heck, if that story about Speedy and no urine tests is true then Sumlin has it coming.

I couldn't agree more about having to earn it. The aggie fans actually started talking down at us early in the season like they actually did earn something! Thank goodness that the Chief knows how to handle punks or their egos would have been ridiculous.

Still though, A+M was a huge addition to the West and they can still be a huge thorn in LSU's side in recruiting at a time when the Tigers can't afford any missteps. I have never been too worried about losing to them on the field but Texas is a very important state for recruiting and we need it to fill in La's weak spots if we are going to keep up with the Jones'.

As for Florida, I still haven't gotten my fill of their misery. After the Spurrier years I wouldn't mind seeing them dwell at the bottom of the SEC East for another decade. Beating them in the Swamp is always a season highlight no matter what their final win/loss record looks like.

I will give them this though, they looked pretty relieved to finally beat Geo.
First of all, I believe that Cam is seriously simplifying the play calling due to his not trusting the QBs to make reads.

Also, I truly believe that one of Les' biggest mistakes with JJ back in that day is that JJ was a great practice QB but didn't trust his own re4ads at gametime. This might also be happening with Jennings. He might not be totally trusting his reads and that will always result in throwing the ball too late because the ball pretty much be in the air at the same time that the receiver ei9ther is making his cut or the defender is pealing off of the target receiver when handing him off in zone.

The biggest issue that I believe is hurting the passing game is that the QBs do not trust the receivers to...

1)protect the ball from defenders
2)run the route tree exactly how the QB sees it needing to be run.

The result is two fold as well...

1) the QB will not throw the ball early enough.
2) The OC will not allow the rec's to run those route trees very often instead opting for a simple route which is only sometimes open as opposed to almost always open.

There are so many other things involved in this but I will just leave it at that.

y point with those two is simply that if they would have been on the field against MSU then LSU would not have lost. There is no way in hell that MSU would have gashed us like they did with those stupid big holes up the middle.

I know that they weren't the on the upper level of DT talent that we have had at LSU but I believe that either one of them on the field the other night would have seriously cut down on MSU's ground stats.
The FACT of the matter is that each year there are a half dozen missing senior veteran players that LSU does not get to play. These veterans are not only NFL ready but they are all draft caliber and some are first and second day draft guys.

All of you guys who honestly believe that LSU wouldn't be a juggernaut with these players on the field are just plain not wanting to hear the truth and much rather just rag on Les.

For instance, do you really think that we would have lost to MSU with those two DTs that we lost to the NFL last year? If you think that MSU would have still gashed our DL with them playing then you are a dumbarse.

re: Meanwhile....on defense

Losing two DTYs who didn't really have a money year is going to be the biggest problem with this year's roster.

Those two players do not have my respect in the least. I will never rag on an early departure who's stock is so high that staying another year could hurt it. I will, however, rag on these two guys who knew that they would be needed this year. They would have improved their stock as well.

That's just how I see it. We would have never lost that game with one of those guys in the middle and we would be a serious NC contender wityh both.
Although your stats are rock solid, I propose that simply altering the mix or throwing a wrinkle or two in the mix from time to time will not stop the box stacking fest vs LSU.

For example, with a RS senior gunslinger and the best receiving duo in the nation, the Tigers still had to throw completions over and over for the first half of the season before their opponents finally started to alter their box stacking strategy.

My point is really simple here... the Tigers are not only going to have to throw the ball much more often to back off the defenses but they are going to have to COMPLETE most of them or nothing will change.

It is very aggra vating indeed to watch these defenses with weak secondaries never get exposed or even tested when we face them but Les' strategy is much more multidimensional than most of us think. Personally, the fact that they've replaced all of the skill players allows me to chalk this up to growing pains but there is that part of me that knows that passing the ball is not that difficult when enough effort is put into practicing both during the fall and even more importantly, throughout the summer without staff supervision. Once that kind of work ethic is established and allowed to produce results, then Cam can draw up a playbook that will look more like last year's route trees and timing passes based on reads, etc.

I wish that it was as simple as playing the other QB and calling more passes.

The guys who honestly believe that this season is shot make me sick. It is pretty much the same mentality that cleared the stadium out.

Nothing would have pleased me more than for the Tigers to have pulled it off at the end and then totally rag on the fans for deserting them. We are supposed to be an example of an alpha game day fan base and we totally wretched out instead.
You are one ignorant arse poster. How many times do people have to point out the obvious before you open your eyes?

If Les should have done anything different it should have been to keep those two junior DTs without decent draft grades on the team this year. One of those guys on the field in this game would have kept your arse quiet and not posting stupidity.

And yeah, 16 and 19 yr olds do look foolish at times when playing guys 2 and three years older than they are. It's called growing pains and they cost us the game. If Les was a loser then the team would not have come close to taking MSU's best punches and almost came back in the end.

And... you're a doooooooche.
quote:

100% behind this thread and and 1000% behind our players. This team is going to have growing pains, but with experience will come more W's and a very very bright future.

A little skeptical about the Les, but I'm pumping sunshine on my team til I die. They'll get the gameplan fixed to maximize our personnel.

I am proud of this thread because that game was exactly what we all knew could happen to this team... Growing pains cost us a win. If the team wouldn't have come back late then there would be a problem. The fact that they took MSU's best punches and almost came back proves that they've grown a lot in that game alone.

And don't be too hard on Miles. When your players are two years younger than their opponents at 7 out of 11 positions it ain't easy to fire on all cylinders. I would blame the DTs who left early without decent draft grades before I blame Les. What would those MSU runs up the middle have looked like with those two on the field?
Troll Much?

As for my preference... we simply don't know how Lee would have done under Cam in order to compare him to the other two.

During the 2011 season, I loved watching Lee run the I-Form like it was meant to be ran. There is no need for a mobile QB when the rest of the players are doing their jobs. What is needed is a good passer at that position. It is nice to have a mobile QB but it is necc to have a good passer.

In the end, both of our current QBs will surpass Lee simply because of coaching and the Shite that Lee was caught up in pretty much killed what should have been the greatest team in the BCS Era.
