re: Why would Ed want to stay on if Woodward will buy out his contract?

He’s not getting his buyout. He’s given LSU plenty to justify firing him for cause under the morals clause of his contract.
It’ll end up in arbitration or litigation and he’ll get much less than his buyout, if anything. Not to mention all his personal dirty laundry will get aired.
Alternatively, LSU will offer him a deal to mutually part ways and keep all his personal BS under the rug. This at least gives him a chance to work at the college level again somewhere.

This is a two-way street. He'll get his buyout.

I have a suspicion there will be a SIGNIFICANTLY reduced buyout.
O will be told to take less and leave quietly or be fired for cause and get nothing. With all the smoke out there, I’m sure there is at least one legit reason he can be fired for cause

He isn’t getting anything close to his full buyout once he’s shitcanned

It’s debatable as to whether or not he knows how to do that

I highly doubt it. He'll get something but he won't get that huge buyout.

Pretty sure LLCs have members not shareholders.
Yes and they have a predetermined percentage of assets/profits and of course the responsibilities are defined in the operating agreement/articles. Just a general description of course.

Yes. LSU would likely be willing to spend $1.5MM to ultimately pay him $5MM or less.
On the flip side, O gets $5MM less litigation costs.
The difference is it will be O’s character literally on trial. It’s just business for LSU. Even if O gets something, it will be less than his buyout and all his personal crap will be public knowledge.

Not a lot of difference. I would suspect his kids are “members” with defined ownership percentages. The income is pass through to each member and this results in an overall lower tax bill I suspect as I doubt any of his kids have other income that would put them in the highest tax bracket.

What the hell are you talking about?

There will be no buy-out of O's contract. He will not get a dime.

If there is cause today why keep him another day??
It would seem to me if cause exists and is ignored then the cause is not that important.
I suspect they will pay him. It does not have to be in a lump sum. They paid Miles.

I think they toss a few million at him to make him go away.

LSU has to let the investigation take it's course. I personally think his goose is cooked. There is also the slimmest possibility there isn't enough evidence against him to avoid a buy-out. Miles would also not have gotten a buy-out if they knew then what they know know.

There is a “for cause” issue in the mix. Expect a negotiated settlement that will save LSU millions upon millions.

If he survives his contract and his Ego wouldn’t take a blow.
If Orgeron or anybody believes this they are dreaming. They’ve got enough dirt on Orgeron between selfie‘s with young girls, sexual-harassment, and conduct unbecoming of a head coach which allows them they can get out of this buyout for a fraction of the cost.
When O gets fired the lawyers will take over. LSU will offer a settlement for substantially less pointing to some of the violations that have taken place. O can choose to fight this thing in court for the next 10 years or except a settlement.
I predict he accepts a settlement.
