re: Why run the roll-out on 3rd and 5?

I mentioned this last night. The defense was terrible. However you run a pass to RB on first down, he drops it. Terrible call being how good the run game had been. Then on third down you fricking run a two wide receiver route (les miles). Then with 12 seconds left you run another pass to the RB in triple coverage. We should have won this game despite the defense this is just as bad as the clock management last week.

Sometimes coaches are enamored with themselves. This staff is in love with the roll out play. Problem is that the way they designed it gives you a one receiver option. They don’t run a honor flag over the top. Just send the motion guy to the flat. They ran similar plays in short yardage situations against FSU. They didn’t work either.

I thought it was a play all that stuck out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the game when I saw it. Very conservative.

OK we will stop using our brains.

Why run the ball for no gain on second down, when you have over 400 yards passing on the night? Why take a sack on 3rd down, instead of giving someone a chance or throwing it away? Why not go for the fourth down play when your defense has zero chance to stop them? Why throw to the running back when you need a score at the end? Why not throw a pass over the middle of field to pick up an easy 10-12 with timeouts left. Why not throw to your top 2 receivers and let them will their way to victory on the last play of game?

So many questions and they all have no answers

Well they didnt tell Daniels because he was snapping the ball with 20 seconds left on the play clock. They were not trying to run clock.

Nabors was open for the first the second he made his cut to the sideline. JD just didn’t throw it.

It was still a bad play call and it also no where near the reason we lost.

Matt House should have been fired before the team got back to BR.

This was the single most frustrating playcall of the game.

Everyone in the stadium, watching on TV, following on an app, etc. knew that Ole Miss would score a TD if they got the ball back. We’d been running the ball well the entire game. You have 2 downs to get 5 yards. There’s no excuse not to run the ball on 3rd down there.

First down flair pass dropped by RB who had not played much was pretty bad as well

The problem is in game coaching decisions are bad and not football smart at all. I don’t get how a football coach can have a successful career and yet be so bad at these high school type decisions and plans.

Offense didn’t lose the game. Coaching did.

Bs…offense was a big problem in the end.
