Why isn't more ink being spilt on the complete lack of a run game?

Against Mizzou?

TDP 9 - 38 4.2 Avg
J Emery 2 - 7 3.5 Avg
Chris Curry 5 - 6 1.2 Avg

Team 51 yards total....We're not controlling sh*t.

Yep. Easiest way to cover for a mediocre defense is a ball controlling, run dominant offense. It does no good to pass and score quickly if your D can’t stop the other team.

Have to control the clock

Everybody was drooling over Coach O not renewing Robinson's contract and promoting Faulk to RB Coach.

The O line has been inconsistent through all three games and had injury issues in the Mizzou game. Plus we have huge advantages in the pass game because they didn’t have anyone who could cover Gilbert or Marshall in the open field. That doesn’t excuse abandoning run, but I think the staff lost faith in it and knew we were in a shootout because of the defense.

Hard to work on a struggling run game when your defense has you in a shootout or playing from behind every week

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. In this case, the defense wheel is deafening.

I've mentioned it plenty, but because people see Brennan throwing everywhere, it's not brought up much. This is the exact reason why Notre Dame won 12-7 today. They ran the shite out of the ball to keep Louisville off the field.

LSU has a coaching problem. Ed brought up how he allows his assistants complete control of player rotation and I think it's asinine when Tory Carter is only in because the position coach wanted him in over Gilbert (O pretty much said this is what happened on the TD that went through Carter's hands). I think it's asinine because he says Faulk thinks Curry should be getting the most carries.

Play your best players, and give them plenty touches. Score, but balance it a bit with ball control.

This. It isn’t pee wee ball. Everyone doesn’t need a turn.

A few years ago, when Miles was here, people screamed about the lack of passing attack. I remember people saying they could live with losing 41-45 as long as we enter the modern era.

Well, we're there. We have a QB throwing for 370 yds and 4 TDs a game. If we had a generic defense we'd be 3-0.

You rarely get everything in an offense, because practice is limited. Even last year, at times we couldn't run like we did under Miles, not just line up and blow someone back. We saw that early against Texas and others.

It came around last year, for a couple reasons. One is that teams saw Burrow would just outscore them no matter what, so they increased emphasis on pass defense- and CEH took advantage of that. He learned the holes that would be created and ran to them.
The other big reason is that teams would pass-rush all game, meaning their D line would expend more energy than our O Line would. Then late in the game, they'd be tired out a bit, and we'd run more on them.

We haven't quite gotten into a rhythm yet where we can pass at will, and force the defense to exhaust itself rushing every down. And our backs haven't been able to settle in and take the occasional run when they get it.

A straight up lie. Gilbert was hurt and I’m pretty sure it’s the same shoulder that caused him to miss the spring.

Or maybe it had to do with Gilbert's injury or he needed a break.

I always find it odd when some of you pretend you can read minds.

I don’t think Faulk has anything to do with the drop off in the running game. To me, it looks like the OL can’t run block for shite. Also, no matter what anyone says, not a single RB on the roster is on the level of a CEH/Guice/LF7.

Lack of run game is concerning as well as such a low third down conversion rate is as well. Something like 0-13 against Missouri.

I’m not blaming the offense for the loses but not sustaining drives is hurting.

Watching UGAs O-line made me jealous. They (and of course Bama) were opening some big holes...

What a dumb statement! Is it Faulks fault that we run the ball 15 times a game and throw 50 times a game????????

What will it mean to the program if LSU goes 1-9 this year. A top flight program does not allow such things to occur.
