JJ needs some time. Guy hasn’t even begun fielding his first full recruiting class where he has been hands on with the recruits

So Mainieri recruited shite players? This ain't football. You throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball.

He did not recruit a complete team. And yes some players are shite. Many don’t last here.

We went several years attempting to get only 1 person with the capability of playing shortstop in college to campus in each class, and some years we didn’t even get 1.

In the upcoming classes, we have multiple. People bitched about Mainieri recruiting so many shortstops to play across the infield. Then he stopped and we ended up with this.

Smart people defend players like Hughes and Milazzo. The idiots who hate(d) those players are the same ones confused and pissed about the defense.

2021 was a good year for Hal at Rice. This year not so much. Check his stats out.

Just a mediocre team. Bats were way overhyped coming into the year

The whole team and staff were way overhyped. I was guilty of believing it myself with all of the so called "studs" and fantastic coaching staff misinformation. It's quite obvious that this team is not up to SEC caliber play. There has been plenty of time to fix the issues or at least show needed improvements. It ain't getting done, and this is no longer a new team.

We are not allowed to tell the truth about LSU being bad at sports on this page.

I'll bet that LSU academics is GREAT, to make up for it, however.

LSU is not bad at sports. That's not the idea at all. We just don't do as well as we expect sometime. And we just have to live with it till we improve. We are good at times and bad at times. That basically goes with any college. But we will stand by them thru good and bad,at least I do.

More so than the rest. It's hard to get an accurate read of the pitching because of their complete lack of support elsewhere.

I think this team has talent, but the mixture is all off. It’s like a football team having all the talent at WR but none at offensive line. We don’t have enough balance in the lineup. We have a lack of defense and speed across the board. We have power hitters but not enough contact hitters who don’t strike out. Our entire lineup strikes out WAY atop much. I know analytics say that’s not a big deal, but when you have guys like Thompson, Stevenson, Pearson, DiGiaccomo etc that are not power hitters but still strike out at a high rate, it really puts a damper on scoring.

I don't think it's as important that he can recruit as it is that he can identify and continue to develop talent. What's the point of recruiting the biggest names and highest ranked kids if they either sign and never make it to campus or they just aren't as good as their ranking(therefore, the draft class ranking). What's important is that he can identify the talent that will make it to campus and can have an impact on the program and help win games.

I guess Berry is because of his hitting but I'd hide him at 1st base.

Nope, sorry LSU doesn't have a plug and play guy for 3B but if you haven't seen Berry's improved play at 3B the past few weeks then you aren't watching. What's much less impressive is a backup catcher getting hit in the mitt on strikes across the plate and can't catch the ball, which is the most basic requirement of the position. Some of these guys focus in the field needs major improvement. If some players get their act together this team can still have a good season and I am really liking Pearson.

How much have you seen DiGiacomo in the OF the past few weeks? And Pearson does have power, just needs more game reps.

He really has improved. I wish others had seen the same level of improvement that he’s shown. Is he an all star there? No, but he’s better than he was and that’s something.
