Let be honest here. It hurts, but we just aren't good enough to compete with some of these SEC teams.

That's hyperbole. We lost by one run in game one and outhit them in game three. Hell, in game two we only gave up four runs.

We swept State and beat a Florida team that's obviously fairly good.

We are a little below average SEC team. But we are a dangerous team that can beat anyone if we put it together on defense on a given day.

After the State series I was arguing on here that we would probably go 500 the rest of the way. Most others were imagining scenarios in which we swept Mizzou and took two from Arkansas.

LSU built SEC baseball.

No we didn't. No team gets to say that, but if one did it is State.

Imagine how bad we would be without Berry or Cooper?

Better start putting it together before it's too late.

Berry is the only one I would consider an AA. The others are just too inconsistent. Johnson will be fine when he gets his classes in.

I would call Crews a slam dunk AA. I guess Berry is because of his hitting but I'd hide him at 1st base. But that's it. Morgan and Dougherty would be honorable mention guys, but we do not have 4 AAs.

Face it, LSU isn’t getting to Omaha with this year’s team.

The baseball program has been living in the past for a long time now. We didn't make it to Omaha with last year's team. In fact, we've only been back to Omaha three times since winning it in 2009. We don't need to put all of this angst on Johnson and this year's team, the program has been propped up by past accomplishments for a while.

No offense to trey, he will be fine, but he hasnt played at an all american level so far this year

He would not be an AA based on play this year

I certainly hope we are right about next year and the team is settled. I would like to see that more than anything. But it is sounding a lot about our Basketball team and the word was watch out next year. Now that program is basically down the drain. I know about wait till next year. I live in Chicago with the Cubbies.

And I didn't say either that the Baseball team is down the drain. I said the Basketball team was basically down the drain.

but there is no legitimate excuse for this team to be this bad. JJ isn't on the hot seat or anything, but ye needs to be feeling some pressure.

Let’s use a grade vs what he inherited and has done in 1/2 of a season.

Pitching A+. He inherited literally zero SP and has them in the top third of the SEC.
Fielding C. He inherited a bad SS but the only one he had that could hit and it has cost him about 5 games from that spot alone. Doughty was not good last season even at third and Berry was PUTRID last year at Arizona. Because of that I give him a C in that he should have made a better decision on the 28 man roster. Thompson fielding at .93% like last year would make a bunch of people feel a lot different.
Hitting B - I expected them to be good with Morgan, Berry, Crews and Doughty. Because they are not “great” vs excellent pitching is not anything to cry home about. Games like yesterday where they have success hitting but can’t get the timely hit, happens. It was one game.

A - on overall, game decisions - he is a better in game decision maker than the last 2 HCsand it isn’t close.

Overall, he has done a good job so far and has his team right there with others in the conference western div. He wins vs Bama, Ole Miss and a couple others, does ok at Hoover and make the tourney, I’ll call it a successful year 1.

We just don't have the pitching to compete in the SEC this year. Gonna have to give JJ some time to build his roster.

I agree that he has done probably the best he can do with what he was left with. It is still possible to accomplish something with this team. But they can't delay in doing it. Time will run out on them.

We need to commit less errors and score more runs.
