Mauck wasnt from here I think he played baseball at Mich St when Saban was there which is how he knew about him

Mauck was from Indiana and committed to Saban at Michigan State. He signed with the Cubs instead and when he decided to come back to play college football Saban was just starting at LSU and Mauck came in as a walk on.

Do the Booty’s have any kids coming up?

Josh has twins that are 8th graders at Evangel. Both are great athletes. A QB and WR. Peyton is the QB and will likely be a stud. He played mop up in some Varsity games this year and looked good.

I get they are technically from here but there are soo many outliers to them I dont view them as Louisiana kids especially if the OP is talking about the state "producing" talent

NFL dad, from out of state, well off, sending his kids to a ridiculously priced private school, and steering his kids away from the instate school

I obviously worded it wrong but you get what I am saying.

What about Gordon McKernan's boy? According to his daddy, he's the best QB to ever come out of LA. He talks about him during every commercial, and every home game, when they show a shot of Burrow, #14 McKernan is right there hamming it up for the camera.

Probably the best Louisiana native at QB in the NFL right now is Dak Prescott.

Eli Manning is still on an NFL roster, right?

General Booty is a 2021 QB in TX
Specific Booty is in the 2023 QB class I believe.

You think Eli is better than Dak Prescott?

I might be off-base here...but I feel like Louisiana at the high school level got on the Shotgun Spread/"throw it all over the place" trend late compared to other areas. I graduated high school in 2003 - and I only really recall Evangel being known as a passing-dominant team.
Compare that to Texas and what Drew Brees and others were doing in the mid-90s.
I think a lot of the guys that could have become good quarterbacks gravitated towards baseball rather than be the QB in a wing-T or Power I.

Booty’s were high school system players, none of them did anything in the NFL( not talking about Abram who got hurt but was a good receiver ).

There's 2 ways to look at it. You're clearly considering Dak the best performer today, which I'll concede. But in the big scheme, Dak will never have the career Eli did.

No mention of Jake Delhomme in this thread yet?

I know he played for USL, but he did have a couple of fantastic seasons in Carolina.

No there is only one way to look at it. I said Dak is currently the best Louisiana native at QB in the NFL amd he is career. Im talking right now not a career. Eli was drafted in 2004 when kids like Derek Stingley were toddlers.

I think where a kid is “from” in this discussion, would be where he spent his formative years playing football- middle school through high school.

It’s the systems that high schools run. Texas schools have more sophisticated passing offenses that would prepare a kid better for the college game. LA high schools are more put your best athletes at qb, let him run around until somebody gets open and then throw a bomb to a wide open wr.

Also why does Jake delhomme never get mentioned as a great LA qb in these threads?

The mannings are NOT from Mississippi. Archie is. Peyton and Eli were born and raised in New Orleans.

None of Archie's sons are from Mississippi. They were all born and raised in Louisiana. So yes, besides Archie, the Manning's are from LA.
