Why doesn't Louisiana produce great QBs (anymore)?

Somewhat odd that arguably the best two QBs LSU has had this decade (Burrow and Mettenberger) arent even from the state of Louisiana. Louisiana produces top level talent at basically every position it seems except QB. Probably the best Louisiana native at QB in the NFL right now is Dak Prescott. Anyone have a theory as to why this is the case?

EDIT: Since a lot of people seem to missing the word "anymore" let me reiterate. I know Louisiana produced great QBs like Terry Bradshaw 30+ years ago. But im talking about the past 10-15 years. Louisiana consistently has great WRs, great RBs, great DBs, great DLineman, and very good LBs and OLineman. But there seems to be a void at QB.

Because LA high schools typically put the best athlete at QB, not necessarily the best passer.

Speedy Noil and Derek Dillon come to mind

Most high schools put their best athletes at QB. See: Michael Clayton, Rueben Randle, Terrence Magee

I think you'll see that change shortly with Walker Howard and Arch Manning coming up.

Considering the Mannings are actually from Mississippi who exactly are we talking about here?

Mauck wasnt from here I think he played baseball at Mich St when Saban was there which is how he knew about him
Flynn - Texas
Mettenberger - Georgia
Burrow - Ohio
Russell - Alabama
Davey - Jamaica

the Bootys and Perrilloux are the only LA QBs I can think of that I grew up with that had some actual SEC talent

Dak worked out with Mullen's system but at LSU with Miles I dont think he would have worked out

I agree that most schools put their best athlete at QB, but it still doesn't necessarily explain why the state doesn't produce top tier QBs. It's not like schools are sitting great QB prospects in place of those athletes.

The answer to the OP's question is...I have no idea. But Walker Howard and Arch Manning in the next few years will buck the trend a little.

Is this not true of high schools in other states as well?

So was Burrow's dad. Does that make Joe not from Ohio?
