Money

That’s bullshite spewed from LSU, I guess we had the 5th or 6th best recruiting class in the SEC bc McMahon was such a nice guy. Also, why did we struggle with Alabama St., UNO, Charleston Southern, Florida Gulf Coast if this was simply an issue of not having players to compete in a good SEC?

this is like asking why the Yankees and dodgers win.

of course more money helps. buy better players, win more games. simple.

do you think LSU could win with no money? money doesn't matter? da fudge you talking about

Mizzou went 0-18 in the league last year and is dancing one year later. Basketball can be turned over quickly with the right pieces in place.

IDK, at this point in the history of NIL, there are a lot of data points that show that teams who play, tend to field a good product. Basketball Coaches who know more about the sport than I do, say things like "We are not taking any high school talent this year, and will build through the portal". Seems very plausible to spend and see results.

Right. Because the same guy is giving strong arse offers at Mcnese to make them successful too? I’m guessing if we look at your post history you were one of the “finally, we have a coach who knows X’s and O’s” guys.

I'm not sure they really do - again - I believe it to be a contrived PR campaign to buy another year so Scott would not have to deal with the boosters coming at him wanting him to go after WW.

I'm not saying there was ever a chance of WW coming back - that's not my point here - but I do believe that Scott wanted to avoid even having to take calls on it....and there would have been calls on it immediately after he fired CMM if he had done it right at the end of the season.

Honestly our boosters should have been lighting him up about it before the NIL thing. They might have been as no one other Mcmen were buying that bullshite article

I have no doubt some were - I actually really believe that prompted it.

Because NIL is the name of the game. By now everyone should know this.

It is definitely a contrived PR campaign.

Compare it to the NIL push after football season. LSU itself and the HC were directly involved in pushing the message.

Here, we have unnamed sources in LSU access-reliant media.

No one is willing to put their name on it.

It probably won't happen, but the crow that will have to be eaten in this board if McMahon somehow ends up being successful will be unparalleled. And that's saying something.

I think they are focused on other things, and overhauling the men's basketball program isn't one of them. Rather than paying McMahon and his staff millions to go away, it is cheaper to kick a couple of million more into NIL to get out of the bottom of the league. It is basketball purgatory.

Yes, my first push back on this was that the head coach at LSU for men's basketball has to be the best fundraiser out there for his program. I don't think anyone believes CMM can or will be good at this and if the numbers are correct he was not in the past - and probably wasn't really much involved.

Seriously? Everyone has wanted him to be successful at LSU.

If he turns 14-40 into a successful program, there is no crow to be eaten, it would be an outright miracle and completely unforeseen.

The sharp money is on it being a continued failure because that’s what it has been and there have been zero signs of improvement or turnaround.

Crow.

Not just unforeseen, impossible to many who post here. Including you. So, if he does the impossible, the crow you MFers will be eating will be hilarious.
