Is it on the catcher? the pitcher? or both?

Not sure but Travinski has been having a nightmare behind the plate recently. Couldn't catch a cold

KP made the comment our catcher was definitely making it difficult for our pitchers. He drops several a game. Did last year also.

Its not all our catchers, its just Travinski, and he's been doing that every year, which is why you have a defensive replacement in Milazzo, and a better all around catcher in Neal, but you can't deny Hayden's hitting.

Milazzo had a huge drop or two last postseason as well. He routinely drops pitches that run glove side

Even milazzo seems to be struggling at times. Wasn’t that him last week with the dropped third strike that allowed FL a run?

It’s that blonde in the bleachers.

The ball is spinning really fast and doing all sorts of weird shite. It’s not an easy job playing the catcher position.

Neal has not lived up to that hype. He routinely drops balls too. Travinski is the best hitter and Milazzo the best catcher of the three. Milazzo made a big mistake in game two vs Florida, but that is not the norm for him. Travinski at DH and Milazzo catching is the best option right now.

I agree with this.

Travinski isn't dropping things and costing us anything (yet). He's worked on his defense a lot since last year. He's framing things MUCH better than last year. I think him framing the ball causes him to miss one here and there misjudging that motion of framing. For the most part, he's keeping it in front of him. Whatever his faults are behind the plate, he more than makes up for with his batting.

Milazzo has come far enough that I don't cringe watching him bat like I used to. I'd be happy to see Milazzo back there more often and Trav at DH.

As for Neal, his bat is too streaky. He's not hitting in SEC play and it's not worth putting him in the lineup to keep Milazzo on the bench.

It wasn’t dropped though. It was thrown 57 feet and bounced off of his chest sideways.

Negative, friend. That ball bounced a foot in front of the plate and he did well to stop it. Unfortunately, he couldn't see where it went after he blocked it, giving the runner enough time to get in from third.

Travinski has terrible technique behind the plate. You can't move with one knee on the ground and your arse sitting on your foot.

Travinski is the weakest Catcher of the 3. He just isn’t a great receiver which will cost you some strikes here and there due to poor framing.

He has improved over his defense over last year though. He dropped a lot more than he has so far this season. Milazzo is a really good catcher who will steal some strikes with his framing.

The big question for me is does Frey’s offense make up for Trav’s defense?

Milazzo has been hitting well this year, and Frey hasn’t really done much at the plate since he got back. I think we need more support behind the plate for our pitchers.
