Why didn't Jordan Jefferson play earlier in the season?

Sorry if this question is redundant, but it's quite obvious that he should have...I wonder what Les Miles & Crowton didn't see in him, to hold him back like they did?

les kept saying he wasn't ready to play...he looked pretty good to me..

they were trying to redshirt him

looked pretty ready to me.
too bad the play calling has generally sucked overall this year for all three QB's.

did not know the offense and if you paid attention saturday, he still has a ways to go.
you cannot drill a hole in his head and pout it in

BECAUSE HE WASN'T READY TO PLAY
If you'd seen the Troy St game you'd know this.

you realize that he has had 14 weeks of practice and game prep right? obviously he got better and more ready to play as the season went on

Earlier in the season, when we had a chance at a season, starting a true frosh wasn't an option.

He didn't look pretty good. He looked like he could scramble in a great way, but to say that he had a handle on the offense is ridiculous. I'm no Lee apologist, but outside of flashes of brilliance, Jefferson didn't look ready. Which one of the two first downs in the second half against a terrible Arkansas defense made you think he looked ready?

probably for the same reason C Jones and R Alem did not play earlier and/or enough this season.
Because there were underperforming upperclassmen ahead of them. It cannot be argued that this staff does not play favorites. There were several underperforming incumbents and/or incumbents who had basically quit on the rest of the team who were not replaced with younger guys hungrier to make a name for themselves and EARN playing time.
CJ, RA, KW/SR, TT, PP, RB

Because Miles has a damn seniority complex...if he wasnt ready, that was their fault....do they not know how to gauge talent?? How did Hatch have a higher spot on the depth chart than Jefferson??

completing 40% of his passes may be why

i'll agree that in the last few games he was ready enough, but thats just the thing. it was the last few games. i think jefferson looked pretty good overall in his later play time, but i truly dont think he could have started any earlier in the season.
that being said he probably should have played more than he did earlier in the season, especially as jlee's INTs (notice i didnt say pick6s) started accumulating

It's hard to call creative plays when any of our 3 QB's only grasp a percentage of the play book.

--didn't know the playbook when he came in in AUGUST.
-- Couldn't read SEC defenses
--wasn't ready because he wasn't good enough to jump Lee or Hatch. When you're the 3rd string QB, you don't get the reps the other 2 do.
I say frick it, start every incoming true freshman you possibly can every year.

regardless of if he looked ready or not he looked FAR more equipped to handle this offense than Lee and will be the better option moving forward

in what area?

Its the coaches job to evaluate talent and if they cant see that JJ has more talent than the other two, they both need to be replaced.
