Why did Skip Bertman come to LSU?
LSU had an opening, he wanted to be a head coach.
He would have loved to be coach at Miami, but there wasn’t going to be a spot there for a while.

He realized Ron Frazier wasn't retiring anytime soon at Miami and he knew Bob Broadhead, who reached out to him about LSU.

That's what I suspected--that he had a relationship previously with Brodhead.

I believe they discuss that in "Hold the Rope". If you've never seen it, I highly recommend d. Its a very good documentary.

Gotta watch Hold the Rope. Awesome hour of how he came to and built LSU

Bob Brodhesd was aware of Skip from his time when they were both in Miami. Skip was serving as sort of the head baseball coach for the hurricanes, while Frazier was the face, and overseer…kind of a GM position. When Brodhead got to LSU, he offered Skip the job (it was a pay cut for him), and Skip accepted because he wanted an opportunity to run his own program.

To think without Brodhead the lsu program never gets off the ground and we are very lucky Bertman didn’t leave because Dean penny pinched on the baseball program

Broadhead was familiar with Bertman from Miami and hired him. Without Broadhead there is no baseball program.

He wanted the Miami job and was going to be given it by the head baseball coach who was supposed to be the next AD until the football coach Schnellenburger put a halt to those plans.
Bob Broadhead was the Miami connection that brought him here.

Bob Brodhead made 2 very good hires in Bertman and Arnsparger, And I think Sue Gunter also may have been his hire, which was also very good.

He knew Gorilla Ball was on the horizon

there was also an LSU connection through the Dolphins, one of the higher ups was an LSU alum, he may have had input with that, definitely had a hand in Arnsparger coming here, sports community is a small world, either a senior VP and/or GM

ABSOLUTELY a must watch. I have it saved on my DVR and watch it now and then.
And this is a classic.
It's not your fault

So true and a damn shame. IIR, the players pressure washed, painted, etc. to get the old Box looking decent.
