I'm ok with upping the NIL budget and bringing him back one more season. But if he fails again next season, then he's got to go.

Simple. He’s an average coach being given some of the worst resources in the conference to work with. Firing him would imply the admin wants to start investing more in the sport and it’s clear as day they have other priorities.

because we owe him too much McMoney if we can him and the amount isn't feasible for men's bball.

The media keeps talking about this huge buyout that LSU would have to pay if we fire him. If you read the contract, it's a monthly payment that would be made until July 2029 minus his basketball earnings at whatever McMahon's next venture would be. The $8 - $9 million figure being thrown around, where it's implied LSU would have to come up with this money right away, is BS. It would be insane to keep banging our heads against the wall with Matt McMahon in 2026. Hopefully the report by Shea recently was fed to him as cover to get the season over with without too much drama and they make a move in a couple weeks.
Like it or not, LSU is giving him another outlier year like the first one. We just so happen to be in perhaps the deepest conference of all time, we lost a top 2 player, we missed our 3rd best player for half the year and we had one of our leading scorers from last year quit a week before the season started. Those are the facts. They figure we kept enough games close this year against some really good teams, and like it or not, he is a good recruiter, they figure NIL money can get us over the hump. Not sure why it's so difficult to comprehend.

I think this board thinks a little too low of him as a coach, but I'm not entirely sure what to make of him. I will say what I am sure about though, he's not given some of the worst resources in the conference, he is arguably the worst. Unarguably in the bottom two. With what LSU is putting towards the men's basketball program in comparison to the other programs in the conference it's irrelevant who the coach is, they aren't going to compete with the resources they're giving right now.
So if they have belief in him, and they want to invest in him and the program and see how it goes, I'm good with that.

We'd have to be relatively big money to buy him out.
I wonder what retard made him a higher paid coach than his predecessor, who had the best SEC record in the league his 5 years here, as well as an insane buyout

In his 3 year tenure LSU has:
(Excluding Texas and Oklahoma) The fewest SEC wins (14)…5 fewer than the next worst team. Hell, Missouri spotted him an entire season and STILL has 7 more wins.
The lowest (cumulative) KenPom rating in the SEC.
The only HC with a sub .500 overall record and sub .300 conference record.
But yeah, it’s just “bad luck”…over the course of nearly 100 games.
The reality is LSU went hard to the donors for football this offseason and they don’t have the funds to buyout MM this year. The “more NIL funding” excuse is bullshite put out by the AD to try to justify not firing the, unequivocally, worst coach in the SEC. There will not be any increased NIL funding…at least to any significant degree.
This is, understandably, an all-in year for football. Unfortunately, that means basketball fans have to suffer through one more wasted year before the possibility of a good program returns again

It is frustrating as frick because men's basketball pays for itself even with average years.
We don't have business or money people in the AD. What retard forgoes good and easy publicity by having a successful basketball team in addition to the juggernaut that is the football program. We could be making millions by just being average. No it will take another Will Wade like hire to right the ship. We are leaving basketball dollars on the floor. When we won the SEC in 2019, the PMAC was fricking BUMPING. The Tennessee game and hell the Vandy game to end the season were generational crowds.
We are throwing money down the drain.

I hope tPear calls Woofwurf’s bluff and stays in LC one more season.

Because Scott Woodward is scared to death of being on the market for a coach with Wade still at a mid major. It would be extremely embarrassing when the best coach on the market is a guy you ran off.
If he had ANY balls at all he would bring Wade back

This is where I'm at. I understand what others are saying but dude isn't getting a fair fight with most of the conference. Add Reed's injury and it's a bad situation. Give the resources in NIL and see the results. Won't be any questions this time next year

Because it’s cheaper to keep him than to let him go and start all over again
We also put him in a shite position and I’m not mad that we are giving him one more chance. He took a chance on us when we were in a bad spot

I just think you ignore any other perspective than your own. Obviously the AD opinion of him is much different than yours. Facts are tough to read when a large part of the fan base is stuck on a coach that will never come back.
Here's some questions for you:
1. What coach would you hire?
2. How much do you think it would cost to hire said coach?
3. How sure are you if he is an "up and comer" that he will pan out?
4. How do you figure we buy out a 10 year contract, hire an "elite coach"(That most of you want), pay them, and hand out enough money to recruits to compete in the transfer portal?
I'll hang up and listen.

It feels like that was a generation ago. The state of this program is rock bottom and another mill in NIL money can’t paper over this disaster. We’re going to get beaten like a red headed step child tonight in Rupp. I’m just glad I will have something else to watch on TV.

1. What coach would you hire?
Will Wade
2. How much do you think it would cost to hire said coach?
He’d work for the same thing we pay the current coach, maybe even less.
3. How sure are you if he is an "up and comer" that he will pan out?
He turned around McNeese State immediately. I’m pretty sure this won’t be a challenge for him.
4. How do you figure we buy out a 10 year contract, hire an "elite coach"(That most of you want), pay them, and hand out enough money to recruits to compete in the transfer portal?
I figure pretty easily. The guy previously took the worst LSU team ever and turned it into an SEC champion within 2-years.
