re: Who's your favorite LSU football player that wasn't a 4 or 5 star player?

Obviously Justin Jefferson.

Hester has to be the winner as a 2-star.
There are a lot of WR who were 3s and were great at LSU.
Jets will be the greatest. He will be a first ballot HoFer.
How about #18 Christian LaCouture?

For me it’d be Jacob Hester or Tyrann Mathieu.

There are plenty of others as well but I kind of hesitate to say Jefferson because if his grades were better, people say he would have been a four star easily. Not sure how legit that is, but he looked very talented right from the jump.

I thought in some ratings, Mason Taylor was a 3 star recruit.
But for sure, Benny Logan, defensive lineman, from a few years back.

The Honey Badger was a close second behind Hester. I love watching players like Mathieu/Hester because neither of those guys would stand out in a crowd, but they both had the "it" factor. "It" means different things to different people, but man, they are fun to watch.
If I had to pick between a team loaded with all the physical talent or a team with less talent, but have a "refuse to lose" attitude, I'm taking the less talented team every time. They may not have all the measurables you typically look for in a D1 player, but you can't teach heart. You're either born with it or not.

Tommy Banks. When I think of just what a football player should look like I think of this dude! Monster vs. Gators!

Not sure if they had star ratings back in 82 but Dalton Hilliard would not have been if there were - Gary James was that.....but Dalton is my favorite LSU player of all time.

David Divincenti or Cam Massengil

Love all the names listed.
Honey Badger is #1 if considered a 3 stat, then Hester.
I would add Tony Moss to the list. My brother played ball with him in high school.

Jalen Mills had an incredible career for a 3 star.

Dalton Hilliard was overshadowed greatly by the signing of Gary James. Yet, Hilliard stole the show each week.

Sammy Grezaffi
Tommy Morel
Andy Hamilton
Art Cantrelle
Gawain DiBietta
Trigger Allen
John Adams
Mike Williams
Sammy Martin
Willie Teal
Steve Rehage
Jimmy LeDoux
All were probably before the star ratings, but it’s my (partial) list

Tyron Matthieu and Jacob Hester are the two who come to mind.

Wasn't Mathieu a high 3 or even a 4 star by the time of signing day? I know he wasn't when he first committed to us.
Hester may have also gotten a boost after his LSU commitment, but i am even fuzzier on that.
Those two are great choices, but Benny Logan is a really good choice. I don't remember him ever getting his props.
