Is it Colin Hurley? Obviously they went all in on Underwood, which makes me think that they see something they don’t like. I always thought that Hurley was a really good get for us, especially at his age and with over 25 teams (AL, GA, FL, Fl St, Ohio State, etc). Is he our next man up?

I'd be willing to bet LSU makes up for losing Underwood this year by going all out on whoever the #1 QB ends up being by that time.

Does Haven reclassify?

Needs to be a portal bridge until Haven

I don't get the sunshine on Hurley. He was a 50% passer his last year in high school. He seems like a great kid with a good head on his shoulders, but we haven't really seen him play, so the expectations I read here don't make sense to me.

haven is 2027. Depends on what Hurley does as far as portal and can LSU maybe get a quality Sr transfer QB for 2026 while Hurley gets ready for 2027 and haven is signed for the next opportunity in 2028-2029 or maybe even competes with Hurley to start. I think by 2026 Hurley should be physically mature enough to compete for PT especially being in the program for 2 years ike Nuss.

the list of guys who could possibly be our starter in 2 years is probably 100 guys deep right now. there's simply no point guessing right now

Do you know if his oline, wrs, run game was good?

Hes built like Jalen hurts at 17. He's got a humbled and mature approach to his game, technique, training. Go watch his all star hs game, he lit it up. And the spring game he looked really comfortable, smooth with the 3's, at i think just turning 17 yrs old. Seems like a kid who will develop with those mature/ humble tendencies. Maybe not

Hes an option to start for 2026, but I expect we go portal for a 1 yr guy, and then have hurley / haven or whichever top 10 qb we get out of that class that we have interest in (3 instate + nuss all top 10 qbs) compete the next yr.

When Hurley committed to us is was billed as a really good get and our QB of the future. I think he was always a 4-star but was considered one of the better QBs in the class. I've been puzzled by the fact that he is never mentioned when QB depth is discussed, not only on the rant but in BK's pressers. I think he redshirted this year, but I haven't anyone saying they're excited to see him on the field or, really, anything at all about him. Maybe he'll be great, but the radio silence concerning him is strange, and a bit worrying.

As for the future, isn't the #1 QB for next year's class a Louisiana kid?

Because he's 16. He won a state championship at the age of 13. He played 2A ball in Florida with a less than stellar WRs. Lots of drops.

Kid is the definition of raw, could be a monster with the right development, which Sloan has shown a knack for.

He had 50% his Sr year, but in every camp he went to he showed excellent arm strength and accuracy. He was one of the top performers at the Elite 11 QB camp at 15 years old. After signing with LSU, he threw 6 TDs in the Army Bowl game. (Not to be confused with the Army All American game).

Big thing is that we have zero clue how he's progressed at LSU, and probably won't hear a thing about him from reporters or staff until Spring.

After Walker Howard balls out at UL next season he transfers back into the LSU program as QB 1.

Have you not realized that 2026 doesn't matter in 2025? Half the team will be in the portal and we will bring in a bunch of new guys. This idea that you can project forward is antiquated.

Will Finley get an extra year of eligibility?
Let's say TJ Finley gets hurt and misses next season
He could get redshirt and come back to LSU

Just curious what makes you think we can go get the number 1 QB recruit? I hope your right but I have no faith right now.

I went back and watched some clips from Hurley in HS after seeing Swann shite the bed. I honestly didn't see anything that would indicate a clear transfer to success in college aside from frame. People cite not having great receivers as a part of his completion rate, but he had a lot of errant passes as well. That being said he can definitely clean it up, but I think going forward Nuss will be the anomaly and generally the starting QB will be a transfer. Consider you only really have 3-4 QBs on your team at any given time, but you'll have 8-10+ options in the portal each year that are proven.

Depending on what we do in the portal Hurley will be the presumed favorite, but they will bring in competition.

Similar to Daniels, Brennan, & Nuss in 2022

Hurley played on a lousy team in high school he made his mark in camps . Hurley has a high IQ let’s see what happens in the spring should have added 15 pounds and maturity .
