But…. If you happen to be upset because LSU lost to a good Miss St team with out. Cook and Ward…..then you are an idiot.

Many good points OP! Sorry so many feel the need to disparage your opinions. No doubt the jury's still out on McMahon's ability to build a big time team and program!

It’s absurd to believe that fans of LSU think that other fans are cheering for CMM and LSU to lose

An overwhelming majority of the hyper-critical fans lash out after losing, but want the team to win. You’re right

There is no reason to believe firing the basketball coach had any effect on football punishment.

He has no fire on the sideline

This continues to be the dumbest criticism of a coach. Not only is it not true, it’s irrelevant.
quote:

maturity. When we played Kentucky you could definitely see the talent discrepancy, they were freshmen

And yet we won, elite talent is around for 1 season. Wade brought in some, but even then, his last season was less talented than a handful of teams in the conference. Which is why we ended up 9-9.
quote:

We’ve improved exponentially this year over last but we lose Wright, Hannibal, Baker which were key factors in those two wins. I just don’t see any elite talent coming

A majority of the best players in conference are transfers. And ward and Reed were more key to our last 2 wins than baker was. You can’t complain that you don’t see talent coming in yet if nobody is in the portal yet. Because that is were the best teams are getting half or more of their best players from.

OP......Clean that shite up and post again in an easier to read format. (Maybe when you're not drunk or high)

All the good points in there were totally lost in the format.

You know all these little simpleton on here aint reading all that.

They struggle with "Reading Comprehension" and battling through a "Great Wall of Text" is a tough chore for them.

I’ve said many times before this was a big factor as to why WW was fired. Got plenty of downvotes.

Read subject and first sentence. No ones happy losing, but shite happens, drive on. However, conference play is a constant fight. We weren’t picked to win for a month, chill.

Perhaps. But we will (likely) never know that for sure. Hindsight is 20/20, but the IARP proved to give out very light sanctions (relatively to the traditional NCAA investigations). So it's VERY likely LSU football would not have suffered much. Even if Wade were retained.

I've ALWAYS said I understand why LSU chose to fire Wade. The big question for me then and still today, which can't be answered, is if sticking with Wade and riding out the sanctions would have been better than blowing up the program and losing the consistent level of winning? We knew Wade could at least consistently lead the program to NCAA Tournaments. Something that had not happened in a long time at LSU. So far, it's reasonable to question if firing Wade was the best move.

The good news is that rebuilding a program quickly has never been easier (though sustainability is a different story). So the right HC can quickly make LSU a consistent winner again. Is McMahon that guy? He'll get at least next year to prove it but, at best, the answer to that question is TBD.

Until last week the apathy in the program had reached a 6 year high (or maybe more appropriately, "low). If he can finish strong in the last 4 games (all of which are winnable) that will at least provide some hope/momentum going into the offseason...which is FAR more than you could say was the case going into offseason. But it will be time to start putting together success. In terms of basketball LSU is no different than Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, (or basically any SEC program not named Kentucky). The resources to be good are there.

We gave MM a 7-year deal for a reason

McMahon had leverage. I don't think LSU gave him a 7 year deal because they wanted to. But when you have most (maybe all) of the leverage in the negotiations you set your terms. I promise, LSU didn't want to give him a 7 year deal. Those were terms McMahon (understandably) dictated. LSU just accepted them.

quote:

the NCAA buttfricked us over football.

LSU wasn't "buttfricked". The sanctions are very minimal and shouldn't be a hinderance...AT ALL.

quote:

we'll have the transfer portal and TWO top 60 players committed to us for 2025.

You have two players singed. Not committed. Semantics aside, arguably the best thing McMahon has done at LSU is recruit the HS ranks. No, it's not quite on par with the very top teams in college basketball. But not bad. For context, Wade signed 6 top 100 recruits in his first 3 seasons. McMahon has signed 5. Now he has to start producing with them. Unfortunately, one thing McMahon has to deal with that Wade didn't in his first 3 seasons is the transfer rules. That means (for any coach) the great recruiting could blow up in an offseason and leave you with little to nothing. IF he can keep Ward/Reed for their 3rd seasons and Chest for his 2nd, then combine the two HS signees, you could have the core of a potentially good team. But EVERY season their are players who appear to be in excellent situations that choose to transfer (ex. Adam Miller was a freshman starter on a great Illinois team; Jordan Wright was in line to be a key player, perhaps the best player, on a Vanderbilt team that finished last season strong). So a coach can never fully count on his players returning until they do.

I agree with this. I never said that I personally thought football would suffer, just that administration did. I made a post about this a while back, but I think one of Tate's biggest agendas is cleaning up the image of the university.

Plenty of negative articles about Wade were circulating and his Wikipedia page mentioned in the first paragraph that he was under FBI investigation. Tate's the type of president to not allow the university to be displayed in a negative way. In his eyes, Wade always had to go and the NOA was the perfect impetus for that. I always viewed Wade's tenure as one that existed on borrowed time. I wasn't surprised in the slightest when he was fired.

That's why we see the hires of Kelly and McMahon- more level headed CEO types than the boisterous Orgeron and Wade. Not to mention, I just think Tate and Woody flat out didn't like Wade because he wasn't their guy, and they weren't gonna take a bullet for him.
