Better off playing Ryan Robinson the walk on than a converted WR. He actually knows the position and played it fairly well in the spring game.

We’re close enough to Halloween…. Couldn’t we have TM7 play with a mask on?

Oh I know. I like Robinson. And that’s the shite I’m talking about. Play with the guys you got, maybe they’ll have a fire under their arse to show up and show out.

I know it is extremely unlikely that it will work out well for us, but we faced an even worse situation against Bama in 2021 and our defense had their best game of the year. We had Darren Evans and Pig Cage at CB and shut down Bryce Young. The young guys who have been waiting for this opportunity just have to give it their all.

Clayton hasn't and won't see the field at WR. At least try him at CB.

Not athletic enough to be a D1 WR, but you think he might be able to play corner? That’s the position that requires the MOST athleticism on the field.

Just considering players that are expendable from an offensive perspective.

Not saying start him, but it wouldn't hurt to send him to work with the CBs just in case there are even more injuries.

Toviano, Welch, Stamps, Hughes and Robinson. I bet they play their asses off.

Sam’s, Burns, Ryan and Yaites. We will be fine.

I remember in 2019 we had at least 1 drive with Cam Lewis covering Jerry Jeudy. Let’s roll Dave

Do you start any posts that aren't stupid?
I don't think it's stupid at all. We are getting low on BODIES. No one is suggesting you're going to pull a guy over from offense and he turns out to be Patrick Peterson.

But I guarantee you 80% of these WRs played DB in HS. So you're not starting from complete scratch, and you know you have big elite athletes

What's the best scheme if we have to go worst-case scenario? Soft zone coverage, just stick your converted WR at deep safety and tell him not to let anyone behind him, and push the safeties to corner?

Do any of you even look at the roster or game participation stats?

This is our roster with people who, I think, are out in bold. I added the column for games played.

5 safeties with game experience and 4 cornerbacks with game experience. Why would we move a guy from WR to DB when we have guys on the roster who have been playing the position in practice and more than a few who have at least some gametime?

Not that this is meaningless but it is conjecture and it also doesn't take into account that a great deal of HS football is more about being able to out athlete the opponent as opposed to being technically sound or even appropriately playing or understanding a scheme. Simply playing CB in HS may not translate into doing so on the field in college, particularly the SEC, especially if you have not practiced a down.

This is the correct answer. But the team seems to really like him at WR.
