Will it be in the offense or defensive side?

Who cares?

It’s been cursed since Giles had it. Time to retire it

Who cares? I hope it is a number that can be selected by any player just like any other number. I'm tired of "7" and I'm tired of "18"

The players and recruits care. Stingley is correct answer.

Even before that, everyone after TM7 didn’t deserve it at one point. That’s why it’s stupid.

Not a moment too soon. Give it to Nussmeier. Not to “anoint him with greatness” or some BS, just because he’ll be a freshman and 7 will be available.

And it’s a cool QB number.

The 18 tradition is about character. Have we had a #18 do something of poor character?

I don’t know about recruits but the players on the team care a lot about those two numbers. NFL teams care about the number 18. It is mentioned almost yearly at the combine when whoever was 18 is there that NFL teams will move a player up their boards because they wore that number at LSU.
