Greg Jackson and Mark Roman were both very good and had successful pro careers.
Best FS for me is Landry
Best SS is Adams

Man that's a tough question. There have been some great ones.

Steltz, Jamal are the first to come to mind. Delpit was great too but the one I really enjoyed watching was LaRon. He was just vicious. I loved seeing him destroy Brody Croyle.

A lot of what he did would be flagged now but it was sure great to watch.

I'll never forget that Chad Jones hit on Joe Adams. I was just outside the stadium and I heard a collective "OMG" from inside the stadium and then I heard Steve Shaw's announcement. I had to run to a nearby tailgate to see what happened. That hit was insane.

Robinson was a RB at LSU. I mean the guys played multiple positions back then. Stovall was a hell of an athlete.

Yes, he played RB and safety. They played both ways then. NFL hall of fame as a safety.

Played CB at LSU, never played Safety.

Some here are way to young, Tommy Casanova never played a down at Safety his 3 years starting on defense at LSU; he played CB.

Tommy was also used at Rb and returner. If not injured his last season he would have been a rb on offense.

Best game is the Archie who game, if you can get it watch the film.

Johnny Robinson is the most underrated player in LSU history, he was in the shadows of an outstanding back field. He played two way football at a position LSU was stacked at in those days. Over shadowed by Billy Cannon.

He finally made the Pro football hall of fame, he should have been elected into it his first year. Hank Stram before he passed away did his best to get Johnny into the pro Hall of Fame.

Johnny played mostly Safety in the pros and a position on defense a kind to what is a Safety (Iron Man is deferent) while at LSU.

Jack Hunt. Not only did he play safety; he caught the Bluegrass miracle.

Steve Rehage needs to be mentioned. No one wanted to be hit by this guy.

Had a great NFL career as a safety but played cornerback at LSU.

landry was much more of a SS and Adams was much more versatile to play either position

Adams is the best modern safety from LSU. i don't know if it's close. Delpit could have been but 2019 was really bad

i can't speak for guys pre-Dinardo

some people might consider Tyrann Mathieu a safety. if so, that changes things.

agreed but he was pretty much all CB at LSU

his major destruction was a nickel back

Chad Jones was popular but wasn’t a great player. He had a huge play vs Bama and sweet punt return and a bunch of missed assignments in between.

chad jones may be the most overrated defensive guy in modern times. a lot of his legend was based on potential, his baseball stuff, and getting hurt before the NFL (which creates a blank canvas, essentially, of pro projection)

chad jones should have bulked up and played WLB b/c he was not good in coverage and gave up a lot of big plays

he's basically the prototype for Jacoby Stevens. he could flash in a limited gimmick role but couldn't hold it down well full time, but would have "holy shite" moments based on pure athleticism. both should have been LBs

I know most want to forget Eric Reid played at LSU, but I think he was the best FS we've had. He played differently than Adams and Laron did, who we used to blitz a lot more with and stop the run. Reid was a true FS.

I'd still take Adams, Laron, and Steltz over him, but i think those 3 guys are different kind of safeties than Reid. I think Brandon Taylor would be a close second behind Reid, when talking about a true FS.

Didn’t see Casanova play, so my next pick would be Adams.and why I pick him is because he did everything well. Other guys were either great run stoppers or good coverage guys. He was a good blend of both and a good leader that knew what he was doing.

in real time i argued Reid was better than Laron, so i agree

it's just that right after Reid we had Adams who was a fricking boss. makes you forget about Reid
