Letting tamu into the conference will forever be the SEC’s worst mistake aside from letting Bama recruit with impunity.

Southeast and East Texas are very Southern, IMHO. Even the barbecue is more like that of North and South Carolina, they have pulled pork and that sweet and sour mustard based sauce.

Central Texas (Austin, Waco and the Hill Country) is a whole nother world as is South Texas.

While LSU, Texas AM, Florida, etc. programs are more regional teams that have a large representation of players from their state and region supplemented with other players from mainly the southeast. The program is somewhat culturally related to the fanbase. Bama is the exception to that. The football program largely consists of players from all over the country from coast to coast, with also a contingent from the southeast, with just a small smattering of players (that actually get on the field) from Alabama

Bama has more 1st Rd picks and All-Americans from ALABAMA in the last decade than LSU has from Louisiana, than UF has from Florida, and A&M has from Texas.

Quinnen Williams from Birmingham single handily beat LSU. The state of Alabama has the highest concentration of elite talent in the South regardless of what rivals or 247 says. That's why the state has 2 national championship winning programs this decade. Florida, Georgia, and Texas have more players due to population, but pound for pound the kids from Bama are just dogs.

It doesn't get any more a southern than Alabama and Bama is the SEC.

ATm is a bizarre place unlike anything. I hate Them being in the conference.

I'd argue Texas A&M

They feel more like a B1G team to me than an SEC team

Kentucky is the furtherest north and they promote roundball over football, which is about as "least-SEC" as you can get.

Lexington is south of Columbia. But it’s slight (at least it looks like it on a map. I don’t know actual coordinates.). Kentucky also gave us bourbon. But Missouri gave us Mark Twain. I think Kentucky wins because it also has the Louisville slugger.

Agreed Mizzou easily followed by Vandy distant second only because of where their kids come from, not because they are a tremendous academic institution.

Vandy. Way too smart to be in SEC. Should move to ACC where the smart schools are and give us Florida State or Miami.

As of 2018, you would be incorrect:

The top states producing NFL players, per capita are:
1. Florida 1 in 4085 (201 total)
2. Georgia 1 in 4132 (112 total)
3. South Carolina 1 in 4745 (51 total)
4. Alabama 1 in 4818 (55 total)
5. Louisiana 1 in 5017 (60 total)

You realize Miami is a small private university just like Vandy right? They only have 11k undergrad students. It's a top 50ish university in the country.

Yer not jes' woofin. There's a huge corporation just south of the A&M campus on Hwy 6 going to Navasota called "Sexing Technologies". Try to figure that one out.
