quote:Thank you. This deserves its own thread for all the idiots who jumped on the last thread.
On the subject of MBB. Some fool had posted something about Tyrell Ward saying after the MSU game that he was not coming back.
Well, I talked to him before the game last night and told him about "the word on the street"
He said there was no way he's leaving. That he cant.
So whomever the idiot was that is spreading vicious rumors you need to STFU
Posted on 3/10/24 at 3:39 pm to mmcgrath
You know exactly who started that rumor so why be dishonest about it?
Posted on 3/10/24 at 3:43 pm to Madking
What part of my post was dishonest you Wade nut polisher? I called the OP of that thread a liar in that thread and RA'd to have it nuked.
Posted on 3/10/24 at 3:47 pm to mmcgrath
Why the “Wade” deflection? It has zero to do with him so you just told on yourself.
Posted on 3/10/24 at 4:12 pm to Madking
Because that is who you are. But nice deflection from my question.
Posted on 3/10/24 at 4:17 pm to mmcgrath
Wrong plus I asked the first question and you deflected so once again you show that you’re a hypocrite

Actually, I do NOT. Can't seem to find it any longer...I wonder why

No rumor here and I stand by what my friend told me. If Ward said it out of frustration or whatever so be it. But my guy has absolutely no reason to lie about what he heard. And neither do I. Saying I’m not leaving is not the same as saying I never said it.

I don’t like that we’re celebrating .500 ball, but I have to give credit where due. The program is on a positive trajectory from a year ago. While I still believe that nuking the program was unnecessary and cowardly, this is a positive step in the right direction. Next year should be NCAA tournament or bust:

It wasn't said directly to your friend, it was something said by 2 other people (possibly not even Ward) in a conversation that your imaginary friend was eavesdropping on.

So it was a completely irresponsible slime post by yourself or a made up story. I guess you are doubling down on slime post.

I think one can differentiate celebrating from acknowledging some progress.
9-9 in the SEC exceeded my expectations. Now my expectations were based on my perception of the talent on hand and of the coaching after year one. And whether or not you give any credit or blame to CMM for how we got to that perception, the fact was I expected about 6 SEC wins and we exceeded that.
Now the pre-conference, that's a whole different story, but I'd rather finish better.

They better not frick around and let us host a couple of NIT games...Baker and the boys will be holding that thing at the end

But But But But..... "We used to compete for SEC championships!"
Wade's last year in the SEC: 9-9
McMahon this year: 9-9
Wade's last year in the SEC: 9-9
McMahon this year: 9-9

While you are correct, I wouldn't exactly puff my chest out with this comparison considering one team reached the NCAA Tournament as a 6 seed and the other is battling for a potential NIT birth.

And Wade's last team was about to fall off a cliff, while McMahon has things trending up.

Meh, that last team would have been in bad shape without Eason, but I think wade would have done just fine in the portal. 22-23 probably wouldn’t have been a great year, but there in no reason to think it wouldn’t have been another top half finish and ncaa tournament bid. Since that was his status quo.

Yup. The exact SEC record the last guy had us before the program was nuked.
We most certainly underachieved that season and overachieved this season, but 2 years ago we were a 6 seed in the NCAAT. This year our NIT chances are murky.

LSU would have returned Murray, Gaines, Fudge, and others. He also had the makings of a solid recruiting class (that may have included Tyrell Ward). Plus, it would have been the first season where the portal was really in full swing. So it's hard to imagine he wouldn't have brought in some good players. Particularly considering what he did this season where he dove into the portal and generated the biggest single season turnaround of any program in the nation. National Championship good? HIGHLY unlikely since Wade's teams were (almost) never balanced enough to do that. But it is also ridiculous to think the program was about to "fall off a cliff"

Wade plucking Eason from Cincinnati showed the aptitude for being successful in the portal. My biggest gripe about wades teams was the roster management. We rarely ever seemed to have balanced talent. But with the portal the way it became, It wouldn’t have surprised me to see Wade put together some really good teams that way.
