I again ask, how is that possible then but not now? The contract was around then too was it not?
Florida was #9 when we played them and Auburn #18. Yet we can't even get a game against an unranked SEC team at night now
you can't really look at it this way, you have to look at what other games are available the same day. For example, the day we played AU in 2007, Fla played Kentucky. UK had just beaten #1 LSU and had moved into the top 10, so CBS went with that game of LSU-Auburn.
The only other game next Saturday is Bama-Tenn, Bray getting hurt may have caused them to pass on that one.
LSU-Ole will get picked up because there are nothing but crap SEC games that week.

Let me add at least a little meat to this thread. I was in school in 69 and remember that game. It was an afternoon game and it was nationally televised. That was the year AwBarn has the Sullivan/Beasley combination if I remember correctly.
I was going to go, never missed any games if I could help it, but got sidetracked somehow and missed the game. Listened to John Ferguson call it on the radio. I distinctly remember the W by one point in an extremely good and close game. Back then we hardly ever played AwBarn on any regular basis. Sullivan was the Heisman Trophy winner that year I believe.
Also saw Spurrier play his senor game in TS. They beat us that day also....

Sullivan won the Heisman in 71

And, after going to this game, I went to the Tulane-Notre Dame night game at Sugar Bowl Stadium

It wasn't a day game in 03?
Nope,
2003 was a night game. Got married that evening with the ceremony starting at 6:00 PM. The game was in the 2nd Quarter when we got in the limo to go to the reception (and it was dark). At least most of the game was night.

99 was definitely early. That was when the rohan/booty shuffle was in full swing.
Auburn ran that fake field goal al la les miles style. I think i was back in new orleans before or right at dark. And no, i didnt leave early despite the asswhooping we received.

I was in graduate school in 69 - really great game. Here's a video at about 0:39 is LSU's td on the first play from scrimmage. Caught Auburn's all-sec cornerback sucking eggs.

The 99 game definitely didn't start at 6. I was there. It was late afternoon and ended at night, but it didn't start at 6.
