Even though it was his first game, i knew he had the intangibles that we have lacked for a while

When it was announced he was considering coming to LSU I had not heard of him.
I immediately started scouring the interwebs for highlights. I watched all of his intersquad scrimmage snaps.

Honestly, I don't if I thought "Heisman Worthy" when I saw those videos, but I definitely thought "this guy can be a Flynn or Mauck and be good enough to win us a NC."

The "IT" moment for me...Texas game this year I thought, yea, this is gonna be a special year....still didn't know how it would turn out though.

When he shoulda been TKOd by that blindside, crawled around on the ground, never missed a snap and finished the game a winner

Knew before that he was better than anything we’ve had in 10 years but that play and what came after,,, if we can’t win with this dude we never will again

The reaction from his Ohio State teammates spoke volumes, that was the first hint, it was not your normal "your my boy good luck", it was effusive, they fricking loved the dude.

Anyone not named Buckeye Jeaux or Tiger Ree who says sooner than that is full of shite. Oh, except for guys with a preseason Burrow-for-Heisman betting ticket.

That's not true. Despite you think everybody lacks foresight, I thought he had "it" against UGA last year. Now, I may not have knew how much of it he had, but that's when I thought he was a special QB.

Having "it" in last year's offense wouldn't have won him the Heisman. "It" can't be taught, and it was clear he was much more than a game manager long before what he's doing right now.

I'm not about to dig through my post history, but I'm sure you can find a lot of old posts that will back up this post.

EDIT - frick it, did it anyway. I guess I didnt post much during the game threads last season, but I have some off season stuff that echoes the sentiments I had most of 2018.

1/30/2019:
On Joe Burrow Highlights
Thread Link

If they get the timing down in 2019 it's going to be very dangerous...

3/3/2019:
About Burrow vs Texas
Thread Link
quote:

If Burrow gets any considerable amount of time in the pocket, with the time he has to develop chemistry (we saw this coming together during the back half of the season) and what will be a very strong running game, he may throw for 5 TDs.

3/22/2019:
About Burrow in general
Thread
quote:

Burrow is going to turn a lot of heads this fall. I think he becomes an all-time great Tiger and maybe breaks a ton of single season passing records.

He's mature. He's tough as nails. He's got weapons. He has the talent, both throwing and running. He has a much improved running game in the works, as well as what should be a more serviceable Oline. He has a fresh, young assistant who worked with Sean Payton. He is in an offense in which he is comfortable. And what I think it most important, he will have had a full year with his receivers to work on chemistry and timing. I think a lot of people forget he transferred pretty late and had to learn an entirely new playbook before the Miami game.

I haven't ever expected an offensive explosion from LSU aside from maybe 2013. I can't remember what I expected from that offense. I am 100% expecting us to be a top offense in the SEC and possibly even the nation.

This is our best shot to make a run.

There is more as well as we got closer to the season. People saying that nobody saw this coming are dead wrong. Did I think he'd win a Heisman? No. Did I think he was a special player with tools you can't teach, aka "it". You're goddamn right.

Not when he had “it” but when he audibled to a run against Miami for a 50 yard Brossette TD I knew we had a special QB

When he changed the play during the Miami game from a pass to a run away from the blitz for a 55 yd TD...I thought holy crap we finally have a qb who can read defenses
When he bounced back after that interception in the beginning of the game and started lighting Texas up, I knew we had something special

I almost celebrate when he fricks up early, because I know we are in for a show for the rest of the game.

I remember the board jizzing all over themselves immediately after this happened. Most people knew how good he could potentially be right then
