When did the retarded STTDB chant even start?

All i know is it was not a think when I was at LSU (I don't think they even played Neck back them) and then it just appeared several years ago and has been a source of controversy since.

Almost 20 years ago, hell it’s been banned for 16 years now, and it was going on a few years before it was banned
Think it really took off in 08’ and 09’ but was a small student section thing prior to that, 2010 it got bad enough to ban the song

This is false. It was definitely not a thing when I was in GBFTL. We didn't even play Neck back then.

Yeah they started playing the song in like 06, chant started a few years later, banned a few years after that.

It used to actually be “talking out the side of your neck” and around 09-10 it transitioned to STTDB & took over in 2011

I'm just happy to see that I'm not the only one that thinks it is completely disgusting.

I see supposedly grown men wearing shirts in the stadium with that dumb chant. It's stupid and disgusting.

The same people down voting this are complaining about people jumping out of their cars and twerking to wrap music at the tailgating. Idiots!

I want to say it debuted in 2006 or 2007. It wasn’t played all year either. The first time being played was late in the year, maybe even in the Superdome.

The roots of STTDB began with adding “A$$hole!” to “Tiger Rag” in the early 2000’s. This led to the song being phased out and eventually banned.
A couple years later, the students doing the “Oweo” cheer added the words “You suck!” to the song.
“Neck” started being played in 2006 and grew in popularity due to the 2007 National Championship season.
During a game against South Carolina (I believe also in 2007), “you suck” in “Oweo” became “you suck, cock!” This caused the song to be temporarily banned for the rest of the season. During the offseason, there was a long campaign to replace “you suck Cock” with “TIGERS!”. It didn’t really catch on, leading to the song being banned again for several seasons.
The STTDB chant started around 2010 as a direct retaliation of “Oweo” being banned. STTDB reached peak popularity in the 2011 season, leading to “Neck” being banned near the end of the season (I believe the last time the band played “Neck” during a home game was either against Western Kentucky or Arkansas. It was not played in the SEC Championship game against Georgia nor in the Dome against Alabama).
Once “Neck” was banned, the students were extremely outraged. “Neck” had gotten so popular that it was like a cheat code to give the team artificial momentum in key moments. The “legend” got so ridiculous that people were blaming LSU’s loss in the title game to Bama on the band not playing “Neck”.
Out of protest, the STTDB cheer started getting added to every song possible. This was meant to be revenge until “Neck” was brought back, but it never was. As a result, after over 10 years of adding STTDB to every possible song, it’s become its own tradition rather than simply a “stupid and futile gesture” meant to protest against the university’s active censorship of the marching band. To their credit, “Oweo” and “Tiger Rag” were eventually unbanned, but “Neck” never was.
