It isn't that O is doing a good job. He's greatly exceeded expectations thus far.
But you can't deny that the process which produced O as the head coach was a textbook example of what not to do. It was a staggering amount of mismanagement, even down to the presentation of a contract for Orgeron that was written for Tom Herman with only the salary changed.

my biggest gripe is that he somehow manages to screw up everything he touches. Name one situation that he has handled properly? From Jimbo, to Miles, to Herman and O, and now to Wade. You would think that eventually the law of averages would come around but I'm sure he would screw that up as well.

Honestly, the current WBB situation is easily the most outrageous. I don't really care that much about women's basketball, but I can't fathom how Fargas got an extension instead of a pink slip.
Most of the other stuff that Alleva has done is at least somewhat debatable. There is just no defense for Fargas.

Agree with screwing with football tailgating. The $20 to $60 a vehicle (and never knowing which or what time), really screws with the game day experience.

I don't know that it's so much a chicken little thing. It's a lack of conviction thing.
Joe Alleva won't put his job on the line for anything he really believes. He thinks Miles needs to go, but he won't stand by that call. Thinks Wade shouldn't be suspended, but won't fight F. King on that. And on, and on. It's never his fault, and it's always somebody else's call that he's saddled with - but that's because he's never willing to say "This is my best call, and if you don't like it then fire me."
In short, he's a yes man. And I don't need to pay a yes man 750K - I can get a yes man for 75K.

Easily Les Miles 2015. Should have let him go that night (not that I wanted Les fired) just so we could watch him bow out like Chollie. Then he caved again to people.

It's simple really. When we need a leader to drive the public image of LSU athletics in a positive way he has continued to fail. When we need to show strength he has continued to fail. Basically anytime a public facing decision or posture needs to be made he has continued to fail.
