What's to stop SEC schools on the schedule from voting to suspend Kiffin

To give themselves a competitive advantage. They only need a couple other votes, which wouldn't be difficult in this pearl-clutching climate. Then you've got a punishment handed down that directly benefits 9/15 schools, without a rule being broken. Sounds crazy, but it's very possible.

If you're talking just random scheming without substantive allegations of wrongdoing, mutually assured destruction becomes an issue.

You can game theory this out

Until then he won't be disciplined.

It's already an issue because we're even having this discussion when no rules were broken.

The SEC are the ones that need to do this, and quickly.

Since Kiffin did not play them, the coaches of

Texas
Mizzy
Kentucky
South Carolina
Oklahoma

Will be getting suspended.

UNLESS, this is about curbing LSU’s momentum as a football team. Birmingham, just like any conference, wants the say-so in every aspect of their conference, including who the nation deems as good.

That's how I would desxribe a meeting today to discuss sanctions on LSU/Kiffin, but I wouldn't call it random.

There is nothing in the bylaws about schools getting to vote on punishments. That’s in the discretion of the SEC commissioner. The only things schools get to vote on is expulsion and rule changes.

If you keep reading, they reveal they weren't trying to have an honest discussion based on the contents of OP. That's why

They aren’t going to suspend Kiffin for any length of time that causes him to miss the Ole Miss game. That has the potential to be the most watched game of the year

Injunction basically. Mechanically or organizationally or whatever the SEC technically has the authority to do basically anything for no reason, but legally they do not.

Mickey Mouse will stop it. Best blee dat.

The highest rated college game of the year will be broadcast in 9 days. Very little will be allowed to derail that revenue monster.

Also, we're almost guaranteed to be the most watched team all year.

4 letters...ESPN

They want the ratings that Kiffin and LSU will draw each week and they pull all of the strings because they write the checks!
