I watched him play at Tulane. He’s the same player here. I was quite clear on this from the start.

I warned everyone about the poor shot IQ and hero ball tendencies.

I don’t think he “saved” McMahon’s job. If any player did it’s Jordan Wright. I am quite critical of players during game time but that’s because I get overly invested and emotional in the sport. Cook is solid

It is sad, and you know how those things go, same thing happens in the workplace, guy gets demoted and is not happy about it but is not fired - he's in everyone else's ear undermining everything he can. And you don't need that around the program for one more hour much less one more day.

Well this is just absurd.

The "hate" (if you want to call it that) is more in SUPPORT of McMahon than anything else. Support in the sense that there is some frustration in the speculation that a key player is choosing not to play at a time the team/coach seems like it could be turning a corner. If fans didn't want McMahon's job "saved", they would be happy a key player isn't playing. And while I agree that Cook's insertion into the lineup right before SEC play started did help to turn the team around, you can make the argument what "saved" McMahon's job is the 4 wins in the last 5 games (even though he was already unlikely to be fired). None of which Cook played in. Particularly the wins over South Carolina and Kentucky.

Absolutely, folks can believe what they want to and downvote all they want to, this situation is past an injury situation and has been for a bit.

and I think CMM has handled it right to this point, but from what I hear, again....it ain't getting better...and I ain't talking about a labia or a hamstring.

Huh? This is absurd.

First, McMahon is not in the clock until next season with his first recruiting class out from under Wade’s frick ups.

Second, just for the sake of argument, McMahon is the only one who “saved” McMahon’s job by making chicken salad out of chicken shite with a depleted roster.

Third, Wade frick boys would be the last ones “hating on” Jalen Cook. They’d say that CMM fricked up the use and handling of his best player.

Cook hasn't saved anything. He improved the offensive flow of the team at first. No doubt about that. But his play overtime brought both good and bad which is not what you want from your starting PG. And his negatives started to outweigh his positives. Mcmahon tried to send a message to him by starting Hannibal. A true competitor uses that as motivation to get better. Obviously he chose the opposite and with Hannibal's improved play and the emergence of Ward and Reed and the improvement of Baker, his presence became less needed. Could still use him as he has a skill set but if his attitude is me before team then they are better off without him. Shame because he would still get meaningful minutes and could be set up to lead this team next year with possibly even more to play for.

I think you responded to the wrong poster here Mcspuff. Cause I NEVER said Cook saved us.

Per Twitter:
“ News: #LSU guard Jalen Cook is currently suspended from the program after “failing to meet the standards of the program,” according to head coach Matt McMahon. Cook was not with the Tigers at Vanderbilt on Saturday and there is no timetable for his return.”

I was really iffy on Hannibal running point at the start of the season. When Cook became eligible, he really upped his game. Essentially became the heart and soul of the team. Plays like it's his last game every night. Hate that it didn't work out with Cook but at least it was a catalyst for Hannibal's improved play.

Hannibal at PG still creates some issue for LSU's offense because having a PG who is literally no shooting threat allows the defense to do different things to stop the other guys who are. That said, Hannibal is a great example of how sometimes great effort can make up/overcome some skill deficiencies. Every coach in America has at least one good player that could be so much better if he played with unrelenting effort. Hannibal is easily LSU's best rebounder and there is not a single possession where you can accuse him of loafing Even when he has an excuse to do so. He was cramping up late in the game vs. Kentucky and flat out refused to leave the floor.

There have been much, much better players at LSU than Hannibal over the years. But it's difficult to recall many, if any, who played harder night in and night out. Teammates appreciate that.

Any leverage Cook may have had in this was gone due to Hannibal's play. Hell a good argument can be made if you look at the minutes side by side in SEC play...we've been better without than with him.

In my 45+ years of being a tiger fan, Hannibal is EASILY in my top 10 favorite players.

And I've never seen a player hustle more than him, on every single play.
