School me, big guy.

Number of players at each SEC school who are in the portal or who have already transferred for the 2022 cycle, per 247 Sports:

Alabama - 11
Arkansas - 15
Auburn - 14
Florida - 8
Georgia - 3
Kentucky - 13
LSU - 11*
Mississippi State - 9
Mizzou - 11
Ole Miss - 17
South Carolina - 9
Tennessee - 10
Texas A&M - 4
Vanderbilt - 11

Average - 10.4
Median - 11

*The 11 listed for LSU include a walk on and a player that was dismissed from the team. So it’s really more like 9, but I haven’t scrubbed the list for every other school and thought it would therefore be disingenuous not to include them for LSU.

You’re the dumbass who titled this thread as of there were just 1 “REAL” reason this is happening, when clearly, it is several and not at all unique to LSU.

Pretty sure that I said in the OP that it could easily be a combination of things. Don’t let that get in the way of your opportunity to call someone a dumbass, though.

I’m not changing it now, but would “predominant” reason have been better for you?

We have a new coach. Some players won’t have the drive to do things the right way, to work hard on the field and in the classroom.
This and some of them see the writing on the wall that they will not play.

Because we finally got a real coach running the cfb businesses like a ceo and not a frat house.

What’s the REAL reason that INSERT EVERY frickING SCHOOL HERE Football is hemorrhaging players?

Not having to sit a year and being able to market your own
Name

Likeness
is causing every goddamn team to lose players. Even key players. We just went through a head coaching change. A massive overhaul of personnel. This is not rocket science. This was to be anticipated. Not shocking to the point of starting a freaking thread on tRant asking for the REALRealReal reasons why we’re losing players to the portal

It’s happening everywhere with the new rules. We’re just seeing it more with a coaching transition. Especially one going from a loose “me first” program to a more disciplined one.

ISaban cleaning up after dinardo was very similar. Had a friend on that team , (known to be lazy.) He missed a meeting and then showed up and his locker was cleaned out.

COVID disruption. Lost the locker room in 2020.

Bad, lazy coaches… Pelini.

Clear messages regarding Discipline. And Kelly not a yuk it up with the players kind of guy.

Clean house now IMO.

I will be surprised if anyone suspended for the bowl game comes back

Why don't you name the high caliber players we have lost and we'll start from there.

weed is apparently super important compared to free school, room & board, and an opportunity to make millions

The problem is they can have it all at other schools.

Hey, in case you haven't noticed this isn't exclusive to LSU. This is happening everywhere because the rules different now so of course we have never seen anything like this.

New coach and NFLSU are both legit. Most guys who signed in the last 6 years were probably told that they would have a shot at the league 3 years out of high school.

My question is: is the stricter pot testing at LSU legit? I have read about it on this board but never seen anything like that in the media. Does Saban let his guys smoke pot? What about other SEC teams? I really don’t know?

I’ll take a stab at it

Look around, would you say Arkansas is a pretty stable situation? I think they are in a goood place and on the way up.

Well, they just had 13 players from defense ,4 or 5 were started, jump in the portal in the last12 to 15 days .name our players that are leaving.
Who is it that you think is leaving that normally wouldn’t?
We have guys transfer every year and now it’s easier. Palmer wasn’t gonna be the guy because of nabors in the slot.
York, flott, tdp, and the other juniors are leaving just like they always have. Similar to Malachi Dupree but they actually will get drafted
Mcglothern got kicked off
Ricks is a transfer because we aren’t in position to win a natty, he’s not from here, and he’s wanting a huge nil deal . He doesn’t realize the gravity of leaving here for bama because it’s not instilled at a young age since he’s from Cali .

Those are all normal situations for any school .

Y’all realize that the bowl game roster was about 10 guys short of what we will have next season , and thats WITHOUT counting incoming transfers and freshman.

We’re actually not getting hit as hard as a lot of school are by the portal. That’s even including teams that are very stable and have been a while

Who has missed games or been in trouble for pot besides last year and dare rosenthall ? It’s not a thing with mcglothern, he was just late all the time and other guys were out for academics but are coming back in the spring

D) none of the above (tell us your reason)
Given the huge talent at LSU, the mid-season firing of the coach, the clean out of the entire football staff...

... things have been pretty stable. The off-season isn't over, but the losses have been less than expected so far. McGlothern is the only true surprise given how pro LSU he has been. But that didn't appear to trigger any mass exodus.

I think the huge number of players in the portal is mostly because of the covid year giving a ton of players an extra year. I questioned why the ND punter was in the portal and it was pointed out how he had already graduated and basically had a free year.
