If brennan is smart, and I think he is, he will turn around and get back to Baton Rouge and take the starting job at LSU. He will light it up.

I was told that Kelly's belief is that once a guy puts his name in the portal, that's it. There is no coming back. Kelly prefers to use "his" guys... not to mention he couldn't risk losing Nussmeier, who's considered to have a higher ceiling than Brennan.

If we don't get a transfer portal QB or Brennan, I'd rather they just take their lumps with a true freshman in Howard. It doesn't matter if they start Howard or Nuss, the season is going to be rough at QB. Why would you start Nuss over Howard at that rate when you know Howard has way more gifts and is the ceiling of a championship QB? If Nuss transfers so be it. You're going to develop either Nuss or Howard anyway so I think it's better to go with your future since the ride will be rough regardless.

Because we don't know that Howard has all the gifts of a championship quarterback. There have been far too many quarterbacks that have all the physical skills in the world, but they are not winners because they can't read defenses and process information fast enough. There is a huge leap from high school to college in the quality of DB's they face. Until they actually get on the field, we can't specifically say a true freshman is that good.

Comparing Nuss and Howard he's practically better than Nuss at everything and he definitely has way better athleticism. He has all the tools to be a championship QB. The only advantage Nuss has with Howard coming on campus day 1 is a 1 year head start.

There definitely is not a guarantee with Walker Howard coming in. Nussmier might as well transfer. I don’t want his daddy drama and the politics that come with it.

Howard will be an injury risk with a twice fractured fibula —- that’s just a fact.

I’d guarantee him the first snap of Spring Practice as long as he’s healthy. Considering he would have the most LSU starts of the three, I’d think that is reasonable. A small gesture of respect.
Beyond that, just promise honesty with him. If he comes out of spring and it’s too close to call, don’t BS him just to keep him around.
