Yep - so sad there are NO memorable plays from 3 seasons of a 5-star? (Okay 2 seasons and 1 game)

True, as big of a liability on D as there was!!! And there were plenty. Couldn’t push, couldn’t shed blocks, 0 quickness, needs another year after getting in real shape. Early cut sorry to say.

He's up there with Kendrys Morales & Martin Grammatica for dumbest sports injuries while celebrating

I watched him in HS, don't know what the scouts saw in him then.

Honestly, kinda glad to open up that slot for either a sure fire transfer or a hungry underclassman that can make the jump this off season.
We need some DAWGS. Remember when LSU defensive line was one to be respected?
Got to get that respect back.

He will be drafted on physical size alone. Really wish it would have gone differently for him

He’s basically entering g his name in the draft based on the very last series of the bowl game. Not much else tape on him that stands out. He played like he was out of shape and afraid to hurt that knee again all year. That being said someone will take him after the combine and pro day. He makes big men look small and has extremely little body fat when he’s at his best. I hope he has a good career but still think k he should have come back one last year, dominated while collecting around $250K from NIL, then possibly being a top 15 pick in the 2025 draft. Now even if he’s selected in the mid 2nd he’s still giving up several million on his rookie deal. If he were to get picked 15th his contract would be around 4 years $16.5 million with an option for a 5th year whereas if he were to go mid around the 50th pick he’s looking at something in the area of 4 years $7.25 million with no 5th year option. That’s about $10 million he would be leaving on the table right there and that’s if he manages to stay in the 2nd round. After the 2nd it starts dropping off quickly. You have to wonder who really has some of these kid’s ears in times like these. Most players I would say go for it take the risk but I have little doubt another year past his surgery that Maason would have put on a show for draft scouts and would have them salivating to take him in the first round. Wish him luck either way though and good health.

The best play I remember was a routine solo tackle for a 2 yard gain. That is honestly the best/most memorable play Maason made.

I wish him all the best.

If those are your thoughts on Maason Smith, then clearly you don't follow LSU football very closely.
the reason y’all were so pumped about him for last year is because he did very very well his freshman year.

He was injured, and now everybody is pretty much shitting on him going pro when you didn’t even like him to begin with.

But I bet if you went back in time and looked at your comments about him when he was a freshman, it was pretty positive.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2022)
Started season-opener against Florida State … Suffered season-ending knee injury in first quarter of season-opener against Florida State.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2021)
Played in 9 games, starting 4 times … First career start came at Kentucky … Other starts came against Florida, Ole Miss and Kansas State in the Texas Bowl … In first game in Tiger Stadium, had 6 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss (-24) and 3.0 sacks (-22) in win over McNeese … Had 5 tackles and a half-tackle for loss (-2) at Kentucky … Recorded a sack for a 3-yard loss and a pair of tackles in win over Florida.

^^^sounds better than just a routine tackle or a celebration.
