re: What we're finding out this week is just how rotten LSU's football program is right now.

It goes beyond Coach O to previous staffs. LSU was in bad need of a culture change. The past two staffs directly/indirectly supported selfish approaches, come here for 3 years then go to the NFL, etc. It was all about self. That does NOT translate well to consistent winning in team sports. We won games sometimes by simply having better athletes (and Joe B!). Many things were allowed in the past that I absolutely cannot see CBK allowing.

Many people on here were saying “burn it all down”. Well they did and the new slab has just been poured. We will enjoy watching the re-build.

He brought in a few kids that did not align

As horribly coached as this team was, we were 3 last second losses (Bama, arkansas, and auburn) from being 9-3 and in a 3 way tie breaker situation for first in the sec west with Bama and Ole miss ffs.

If these guys would rather play for Coach O than BK then they're retarded and should transfer back to high school

DiNardo was a decent coach at times, but certainly not good. A good coach doesn't experience the total collapse of a program like DiNardo did at LSU. Look at his career post LSU where he's not really accomplished anything.

He recruited well.
He recruited some really good players, including Kevin Faulk; LSU will always be indebted to him for that. But onr weakness was he recruited players that were unable to stay in school, for a number of reasons. As I recall, at the end of his stay, LSU was only able to suit up something like 55-60 players for games.

Very true. In fact, some hires were extremely poor, like Lou Tepper (DC) and the last OC (I forget his name).

Saban inherited a good situation with a lot of talent.
The cupboard that Saban inherited was not bare by any means, but he had to do a lot of work on their psyche and what he phrased "the catastrophe syndrome." Here's an old quote from then.
"When Saban arrived at LSU in November 1999, he concentrated on molding players' attitudes as much as on strengthening their muscles. At the time, many had gotten into what Saban calls, "catastrophe syndrome," giveing up when little things would go wrong."
The things Saban says in this article are similar to Coach Kelly and what his situation.

Some of you think BK is the second coming.
The program went 15-0 and won a natty 2 years ago.
The team led in every game this year except for UK.
The program being left to BK isn't in dire straits.
Pull BK's cock from your mouth.

We were just as close to 3-9 as we were to 9-3

Agree with most, just don't like the comments toward Orgeron. Lets get off his back and enjoy what took place under his watch in 2019. No one would give back the 2019 Natty to not have the current state of affairs. If they say they would, they are lying and belong to the fair weathered fan group.

Plus about 50 IQ points.
Dinardo's stubbornness was his downfall, but he was a smart guy and managed the program reasonably well.

I dont get the hating of Coach O .Players loved him .Won a Natty with Ohio help . Did what a big time CF HC is supposed to do ..manage the team and his coaches and let his coaches do their jobs .I was hoping Ryan Day would add him or Gary Patterson to the O$U coaching staff but looks like we got the Ok St DC coordinator coming in to fix our D and get us back to holding another CFP trpohy next yr .BUCKEYE NATION .EARNED.RECOGNIZE fools

You're correct that we were close to being 9-3, but you're incorrect that this would've put us at the top of the SECW. Bama had 1 conference loss. We'd have had 2.

This is what some people really do not understand. Players were not be developed properly.

Because he was and is completely and totally incapable of running anything even remotely resembling a competent, well-oiled program.
He was a great recruiter and a great motivator, and literally as bad as a P5 coach can be at every other single facet of being a college football head coach. Absolutely nothing was done at a competent level aside from recruiting.

doesnt add up .so you are saying that without him on the sidelines in 2019 ,LSU still wins natty? ?? No .I dont buy that . He is every bit of a good coach as Les Miles was . And it remains to be seen if BK will fit in at LSU .LSU is a 180 from ND . BK is a mean bastard

Great Post; Since you used a Orkin and termite analogy, I’ll use a Hunting analogy. Hunting on an Island in the Mississippi River is some of the best hunting in the country (LSU). 3/4 years ago the hunting was Unbelievable some of the best ever(2019 season). Then the flood comes (O) and wipes every thing out deer population, feed, lay of the land(football program), but we know what to do and how to get the hunting back to elite as long as there’s no more flooding. Now this type flood is preventable and in just 3/4 years our hunting (LSU football) will be elite no doubt in my mind. We lost a lot of Stud Bucks (players), but the Mature deer that were survivors stayed because that was home and they knew it would get better. 4 years from now this Island will be elite again as one of the Best hunting properties (LSU Program) in the country. The only difference is we found a way to stop the flood, it had to completely hit rock bottom before it’s renewed. Our deer hunting is now elite again and it took only 4/5 years of proper management. The Bucks that stayed are now the Studs and the fathers of the up and comers that will sustain our heard for years to come until the next flood comes. We had to stop the flood and we did. BK WILL sustain our program back to elite but it will take time and a few heavy rains to get there, have patience we’ve been there before and we’ll be there again.

It's laughable to think that without Ed Orgeron there is no 2019 season.
Orgeron gets credit for putting that run together, but do you really believe, for example, that a Mike Gundy or Dana Holgerson or Jimbo Fisher, who's able to inherit Dave Aranda to run the defense, can't ride Joe Burrow and those receivers to a championship?
There are lots of coaches in college football who would have been able to piece together the resources and talent available at LSU to make that run.
The real question is whether those other guys could have managed what happened AFTER 2019. Because 2019 should have been the springboard to lasting success and playoff contention on an annual basis.
LSU isn't a 180 from Notre Dame. Both are big-time college football programs. The basic elements are the same. The environments are different, but LSU is in many respects easier than Notre Dame. If Brian Kelly can be in annual playoff contention there he's certainly capable of doing it here.

My husband was a successful troubleshooter for his nationwide company. He was a business man first and foremost. He's the type everybody respected especially the hard working employees. He was sent to operations that were losing hundreds of thousands a year. He would weed out the weak , lazy, and uncommitted. Before a few years that same business was won of the best in the nation and making millions. Sometimes a new person has to come in and clean out the crap and change the culture.
