1949 versus Southeastern. My dad was in college at Southeastern on the G.I. Bill, and we all piled into the Studebaker for the drive to Baton Rouge to watch the Tigers and Lions play. The most interesting thing about that game is that the LSU coach was not satisfied by the effort of his first team, so at halftime, he pulled the first team sent them to the practice field for full contact workouts, and allowed the second team to finish the game.

Sad that these young kids first games are to a concert. Piped in music has killed what we all remember Tiger stadium used to be that changed our lives the first time going to a game
My first game was Rohan literally limping his way to beat Tennessee in Overtime. Changed my life and fan forever. Week after losing to UAB in Saban’s first year. But atmosphere was better being so raw without the piped in music.

LSU vs Notre Damn in 1984.
My grandfather took me when I was 7. I remember seeing a tidal wave of bodies rising and falling to do the wave as it made its way around the stadium. I got wrapped up in the moment and instinctively stood up when it made its way to up. My seated grandfather got a good laugh when I looked over at him as I sat.
I also remember the old codger nearby who would rhythmically chant over and over again. I asked my grandfather what he was saying, and he responded, "Tigerbait."

October 1, 1966.
LSU 10
Miami 8.
The first game I watched on television was the January 1, 1966 upset of top ranked Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl.
Prior to that the radio was always on WWL on Saturday nights.

I'm not sure, but I remember Carson had never had a TD catch until that game, then he had 5 or 6 that night.
And a couple of them were deep bombs.
We had a 2 headed QB back then, Ensminger the passer, and Woodley more of a runner.
We also had a year back in the late 70s when we struggled to take the snap from under center. We had a lot of fumbles, and lost a good bit of them

It must have been the first game of the 1980 season against FSU. 0-16 loss.
It felt unreal being there my freshman year (at Southeastern) after all those years listening on the radio. My girlfriend was a freshman at LSU. I joined her there in 1981 and married her in 1985. She's sitting with me now.

LSU v. Rice 1957 at Tiger Stadium. The Tiger’s backfield, Jim Taylor, FB, Jonny Robinson and Billy Cannon, HBs, Warren Rabb, QB. I was 12 years old; my Mom and Dad took my younger brother and me. I shall never forget my first time in T. stadium and that first LSU game.

My cuz rest her soul, played and marched with The Golden Band from Tigerland! I grew up in NOLA and every weekend me and my Grandpa walked the Tulane campus, the student union had a bowling alley, this was in the 60s early 70s and I Loved Tulane and hated LSU because my Grandma said they were loud, rude, and obnoxious! She was right! We moved from La. and me and my Dad would listen to WWL in West Virginia & at night it would be crystal clear & on Saturday Night we listened to LSU! We moved back down south to MS. and I went to my first game in Tiger Stadium in the late 70s but I don't have a clue who we played? We played old miss and it was AN EYE OPENING EXPERIENCE! The prick next to me kept saying to break his leg, "talking about our QB and I was getting so mad at him but he was with his 2 kids and I had 1 at the time and he wanted me to punch him but I didn't, we won he left, I vividly remember thinking to myself, "this is what my Grandma meant by rude, obnoxious, and loud" It was all that & more & I joined the club! I know this might offend but I don't care, Tulane Stadium back before they tore it down and the Saints played there was Massive and majestic, it held over 80,000 I think 82-84,000 was the record and Tiger Stadium at the time was around 60,000 but it would get so loud, I reveled in the noise I loved being a fan of the Tigers but not when I was a boy, I hated LSU because they beat Tulane 99% of the time! I parked cars in my Grandparents yard and they would be like sardines! It would be so loud with everyone stomping the metal floor of those hard arse bleachers! We would sign up to sell drinks with the racks on our shoulders, "ice cold beer, cokes" I'm like 12 doing this and now I don't even think a 12 y o can sell beer? Crazy how good things were and how much it has changed. Yeah I have an 86 inch tv that is too big but TV and now the size of them, and Every Game is on 24/7 record, rewatch, and everything else is the reason it will Never be the same ?? Thank God for all the memories I have and we all have every day and let's just be happy and be thankful for each and every thought we get to experience, HAPPY 4th of JULY & GEAUX TIGERS
