Especially when they basically have a double break after a score: Score, timeout, kickoff, timeout. So annoying.
The worst.
Sucks every bit of life out of the stadium.

The media, polls, lawsuits by moneygrubbing punks who don't give a damn about college sports and are willing to ruin it just to try and snatch some cash they don't deserve, moneygrubbing rich guys who don't give a shite how much they ruin the sport to get what they want, more of the moneygrubbing rich guys who want to claim they are "donors" when in fact they refuse to give a dime unless they get special rewards and treatment, hysterical dipshits who think every time a college athlete commits a crime it is proof that the entire system of collegiate athletics is broken/dysfunctional/responsible/pure evil/whatever, mean-spirited jackasses on message boards who enjoy pissing off other people for their own amusement, greedy jackasses running message boards who enjoy sponsoring the aforementioned mean-spirited jackasses for their own profit, dumbass fans who think they are "special" because they can drop buzzwords like "Tampa-2" or "1-technique" or "hip rotation" into their posts, even more dumbass fans who think their use of buzzwords means they know better than the coaches, and especially asinine LSU fans who are so worried about other people calling them "whiners" or "homers" that they shite all over their own team and fans and everything else and especially refuse to call out referees for screwing up and costing LSU games.
cupcake games like this weekend
That's just a few of the highlights. In no particular order except that the media is #1. But no, cupcake games, inasmuch as they are actual college football games involving actual college football teams playing actual college football, are nowhere close to making my list.

What a gross simplification and misrepresentation of the situation.

Lack of a TV schedule for the first 3/4 of the season like the NFL does.

Constant breaks in the action. It makes cupcake games like this unwatchable in the stadium or at home.

quote:It wasn't me saying it, but I agree about the evils of human subjectivity. As for where the numbers come from, it doesn't matter so long as they are public knowledge and not changed mid-course (just like the NFL, NBA, MLB, High School football, and basically every other sport that isn't Ice Dancing, Figure Skating, Syncronized Swimming, or College Football).
Are you saying pure computer "poll"? Where would the numbers for rankings come from to input?
Pick a SoS formula (there are tons of perfectly suitable ones out there), put a 4-5 year lead time on any changes to it to allow teams to adjust their scheduling accordingly if they so choose, pick a ranking formula (again, there are several suitable ones) and make it fully open and public, and put a significant lead time on any changes to it. That way, in any given season, every team will have known years in advance what would be necessary to make the playoffs (however many teams are included) and there need be no subjectivity whatsoever. An algorithm of all games played throughout the entire season plugged into a specific formula will spit out the final rankings and *poof*, problem solved.

Lack of a TV schedule
Good answer. I understand why they wait, but all the guesswork over "When will X game kick off?" gets old.

All the chest-pounding, first down indicating, Clark Kent shirt ripping, it's all about me crap.
Tend to agree, but some think it makes for "good" TV...I do think that it gets out of hand, these guys are supposed to make that play, so why would they think they are something special when they do...and then on next play they get toasted for a TD, or get carted off after getting their clocked cleaned by another show off with a better dance...
Just make the play and get your but back to the huddle...save all the energy to chase the guy down again on the next play...
It's hell being ole skool sometimes...

With the exception of Bama and Oklahoma I thought the BCS always got the final 2 teams right. Really bama was one of the best 2 teams but i still hate that they made it that year.

That the season has to end and we sit and wait an eternity for it to start back up again.

The ever increasing number of corporate owned tickets in good seating areas of the stadium.

I agree. As much as I appreciate LSU football its next to impossible to care about a game with Sam Houston State.
