More than anything else, what I REALLY want to take away from this season in the SEC Chamionship Trophy.
NOTHIING, and I mean NOTHING, will make me as giddy as a 4-year-old than to see Sankey on the stage with Lane and having to hand Kiffin that trophy with the purple and gold confetti raining down.
Can you imagine the cold zingers Lane will throw into his acceptance speech.
It'll be gold, Jerry, GOLD!

It would indeed be poetic justice, and if I were Lane, I'd put my arm around Stankey with a big smile and watch Stankey's reaction.

After all we've been through, that would be almost as sweet as winning the whole damn thing
And same sentiment for Will Wade.and hoops to be honest

Zero chance Sankey takes the stage in that scenario. He's too much of a pussy.
But yes, it would be sweet.

My ideal scenario is we finish 10-2 and DON'T make the SECCG.
Let UGA kick the shite out of Ole Miss and give us a home playoff game.

Surprised you’re getting upvoted. Seems everyone here likes to say the SEC championship is worthless.
The whole argument about resting is silly since there’s a long enough break before playoff plus we’d get a bye as SEC champion. if we make it and even if we lost and didn’t get a bye it’ll help you sleep easier knowing teams with a 1st round bye are 1-7 so far in the QFs.
We’ve only won the SEC once in the last 15 years and this is the last time the game will ever be played. It’s a huge accomplishment plus I also want to win it for the reasons you stated with Lane and Sankey

UGA has had an early playoff exit the last few years after winning the SEC ship. That extra game while everyone else is resting costs you. The goal is to get into the playoffs without having to play the sec championship if you can.

Indiana played in the conference championship last year and won the natty

It’s a useless game now and even more so next year. Completely useless but to those making it’s money.

Back in the day, Al Davis sued the NFL to leave Oakland and move the Raiders to LA. He and Pete Rozell were publicly fighting over this. In 1982 the Raiders won the Super Bowl and Rozell had to hand Al the Lombardi trophy.
Since Sankey is such a bitch, he will probably get some undering pass out the trophy to Lane.

I'd argue the SEC gauntlet is alot heavier than the Big 10s. Especially Indiana's schedule

It is but point is playing that week vs resting isn’t the difference maker people make it out to be. LSU obliterated UGA in 2019 SECCG then first game out in playoffs obliterated OU in playoff
As long as no one is injured. That’s not a guarantee but opportunity to win the SEC is worth it. Next year onward the conference championship games won’t even exist anymore.

My argument is all the time off isn’t as the huge advantage you think it is. At the college level staying sharp is important. If it was such a big advantage the favorites ranked #1-4 wouldn’t be 1-7 in the 12 team playoff after their bye in playoffs
Lane’s commented it on it himself in one of his Monday PCs saying bye weeks aren’t as big an advantage as people make it out to be. I think it was last weeks maybe.
He broke out some kind of metric of course like he does showing there was no statistical W/L advantage in the SEC for teams coming off a bye vs teams that didn’t have a bye

Just want to add that LSU would have the last SEC Championship trophy
Posted on 10/28/26 at 10:51 am to mtntiger
Being it will be the last SEC Championship, I really want that one. If we can win a rematch against OM, even better.

LSU won the SEC in 2011(15 years ago) and in 2019.

It would be UGA don’t think Ole Piss gonna come close to surviving that gauntlet plus they can’t afford any mistakes just like us. Outside shot at playing UK but think they may drop 2 so………

It's one of, if not the, best sporting events in athletics.

Makes no sense. UGA got the same amount of rest because they won, it just shifted to immediately before their second round game.
The other teams had a hard playoff game while UGA rested
