I'm just wondering about what people say all around the country when talking about LSU? I've lived in Louisiana my whole life and I've never asked any of them.

That's a broad range of a question. You'll probably get a myriad of responses.

I think this movie was hilarious. but then i'm secure with my upbringing and LSU education.

lots and lots of people like to put down others. they close their minds and go by age old stereotypes.

LSU has funding problems and we always have. the state, and most importantly, former students simply do not support the university like we should (myself included). of course, if the football team needs support, the dollars pour in. just sayin'

A lot of my friends who live on the east coast who don't follow college sports at all know LSU as an NFL football factory.

Yep, and the east coast elitists see it as nothing more too. They view LSU as a total and complete joke academically.

Having lived in six different States, people love us, love the food, they thought LSU is a great Sports School. When I tell them about Baseball attendance they freak out.

Other than that they think Louisiana is a third world State and......they are correct

that's not my experience. I worked for a manhattan investment firm and was as respected as I deserved.

once I was in it became "survival of the fittest" and where you went to college didn't mean shite.

that's the great thing about America. I tell young people; fricking pay attention, work hard and study your arse off. you can do anything you want if you are capable.

I've actually found that almost everyone I encounter has some story about LSU...either someone they know who went there, listening to games at night on the radio, visiting the campus, etc. it is almost always positive. I was recently at a conference and had an older guy (60s) from Colorado tell me attending a night game in Tiger Stadium was a bucket list item. I think it is sometimes more respected outside the state unless of course you are in a rival team state.

A lot of locals I come across in Chicago know we're a football school, but don't understand or fully grasp the scale of it. There's no awareness about it being such a big deal.

That said, Big Ten and Notre Dame fans are the ones up here who get it. Telling them I'm an LSU grad typically elicits a wry smile. To their credit, many have told me Tiger Stadium is a bucket list trip for them.

When I want to impress them I say our football stadium seats over 100,000 people.

I enjoy being able to mention that when someone asks "is it as big as Soldier Field?".

I have been living outside of Louisiana for 12 years now and the first thing I have to do is correct them on the typical, New Orleans being the entire state of Louisiana thinking! Second thing is why cant LSU recruit a damn QB from the few knowledgeable college football fans here in Virginia. Oh yeah I let them know that LSU IS Louisiana's football and the Saints SUCK!
