Actually scoring would be the best start...

Run plays they haven't run al season. Bama studies film of previous games more than anybody... the extra staff members job.

"It was clear that Bama was not going to let LF7 run the ball, yet we kept trying to force it".
Clearly, O should have just told LF7 not to bother to dress out, as it would have been foolish to try to force Bama to account for him. We'll let Elling win the game and we'll not use our most potent weapon at all. Bama won't know how to deal with that at all...

LSU mis-used its offensive personnel against Alabama. Western Kentucky scored 10 points against Alabama; that would have sent us into overtime against them. LSU has all the talent it needs to beat Alabama. Ordinarily when the defense holds Alabama to 10 points and forces two turnovers in Bama territory, that's a recipe for victory. In the end I don't think LSU had gotten far enough away from the Miles offensive concept at the time of the Bama game. They have now, as we saw against Louisville. It is too much to expect to move entirely away from Miles in a few weeks in the middle of a season of play. But now the team is playing at the caliber of a playoff team--better, really--I don't have a problem seeing LSU beat Washington and Ohio State. Alabama and Clemson would be pickits.

I don't remember what defensive player it was at Alabama but during the 15 season he was quoted saying how they love to play LSU. He gave credit saying LSU was a talented and tough team but there wasn't a lot of creativity. They knew exactly what they were gonna do it and it was just line up and see who was better.
Alabamas players are too talented to do that with. You have to create mistakes on their side.

Bama's down linemen do a good job of holding without the refs seeing. they hook arms and stuff to give the LBs a clear shot at the RB.
And before i get downvoted for conspiracy.. I watched it happen on replays this year.

I like this explanation, the talent level is pretty even (with a slight edge to Bama on the lines), yet their coaching staff actually prepares for the game by watching film and finding weaknesses.
With most of the last 6 games being so close, it all came down to game-day coaching and that exposed Miles' weaknesses to the point of him being canned.
It will be refreshing to see Canada and Aranda actually attack teams rather than try and bludgeon them.

1. spread offense
2. athletic QB
We need a lot of pre snap motion, we need to spread that defense out, we need a dual threat so Bama can't just dominate the OL and get to the slow pocket passer who can't improvise on the run. We need to run read option and utilize RPOs.

I think it was more of the fact that Louisville defense isn't the same as Bamas defense in any kind of way. Plays that worked vs Louisville would get blown up against Bama. The difference between LSU and Bama has had more to do with talent than any thing else.

What does LSU have to do
String together some consecutive first downs and score more points than Bama.

We have to recruit bigger and better OL and DL players and then beat them physically up front to win the game against Alabama or any other team. Take care of that and the best of the best will come running to play for LSU instead of crossing the border to Alabama.

either that or get a great dual threat QB who can make up for their advantage in the trenches (the Clemson plan)

"We are going to see what Clemson does when they beat the crap out of Bama!"....EXACTLY MT ....
Whatever Clemson does---DITTO it....---------

It's been the same formula for years and years. We've seen Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Clemson use it time and again. A) spread set with 3 or 4 receivers. B) utilize hot routes in middle of the field in the seams. This requires a QB who can read defense, though, and pick up pre-snap blitz signals, so he'll know where his hots are. C) when lbs back off to close seams, hit TE's and RB's underneath coverage. D). When get a good clean pocket, hit receivers over the top, don't just drop off to a TE or RB safety valve.
Easy peazy.... just gotta execute and have a QB who don't have to look over at the sidelines before snap and can read defenses on the fly, know where they're coming from, call out blitzes for everyone, and deliver an accurate ball through the seams.
Edit:. I'll also add that you need a good center who can help QB call out lb blitzes, too. But in order to get to the point where those lbs are even blitzing, you have to be successful keeping a 3-man rush out of the QBs face. A QB who can and knows when to run will help discourage 3-man rushes. Against a 3-4, if you can't do anything on the ground, you WANT 1 or 2 of those lbs to come. That helps open up the middle even more.

Seems to be the same question LSU's offense has been asking itself since Jan 2012.
