Cholly Mac. Tommy Casanova, Bert Jones, Andy Hamilton, Ronny Estay were the stars on that team. I was like 6 years old.

Charles Youmans McClendon (October 17, 1923 – December 6, 2001), also known as "Cholly Mac", was an American college football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Louisiana State University (LSU) from 1962 to 1979, compiling a record of 137–59–7. McClendon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 1986.

Yeah, I’d gotten a #7 LSU uniform as a present when I was a kid, and I wore it out. Bert was an absolute legend. Probably one of the first Tigers I was a super fan of.

Jerry Stovall when I moved to Louisiana in '81

DiNardo. I am thankful for that time as my dad was able to score us great season tickets, for what I can imagine were very affordable. We didn't have a ton of money.

Good ole Cholly Mac for me too.

Cholly Mac...
Started following LSU around mid 70's at about 7 years old. Went to first game against Kentucky in the 70's and listened to the LSU vs USC game in 1979 on my grandmothers old wooden radio. My mom and dad went to that game with friends, and I listened to every play... What a game!

Did your dad just hate everyone? I can't imagine anyone hating Mac. Disagreeing with his coaching sure. But hating Coach Mac?
