We can’t start trying to control peoples thoughts. People are inclined to usually believe negative things. Let them think what they want

Must win ballgame
After 20 years of watching a ton of big games, do you think the fans consider a game to potentially make the Liberty Bowl a "must win" game? This isn't 1994.
The game was close, but mostly boring...in a season that has been wildly disappointing...on a cold night in BR. If this were a game between two top 5 opponents fighting for the playoffs the crowed would have stayed. But it isn't.

But is there anything that could be done to incentivize fans staying? We all know the issues and excuses of fans leaving, I'm not sure there's a solution though. We all say that they've priced out most of the true fans, but like the price of land, football and event tickets in general, never decrease.
LSU and the fans made tailgating the FOCAL point of the day...not the actual game. I'm not anti-tailgating by any means. But 30-40 years ago it was something you did to pass the time before the game started. Now, it has, for many, become the SOLE reason for going out to campus...with the game being the "inconvenience" that ends the tailgate party. Couple that with the fact that every game is now on TV and many fans decide siting in a cramped stadium seat with expensive food/drink, lines to the bathrooms, etc. is less appealing than sitting on your sofa...or even just a lawn chair outside at the tailgate tent. There's not much LSU could do to combat that other than, maybe, implementing NFL style TV blackouts in local markets for non-sellouts (will never happen due to TV contracts)

I'm truthfully sad at the state of this program at the moment.
Struggling attendance is not just an LSU problem. LSU has probably been better than many team. Hell, Tiger Stadium had a decent crowd at an 11:00 am start vs. Florida just one week after getting blown out by Kentucky.

only program that struggles with this. It's across the sport.
Nebraska and Notre Dame have had several struggles the past couple of decades and have not been relevant since the 90’s and yet they have zero problems with ardent fans going to their games and filling their respective stadiums.

People act like LSU is the only program that struggles with this
When you people make this excuse, do you have any evidence of another school that has half the original attendance, or more, file out of the stadium at halftime when leading or tied against a conference opponent? I have always understood not being able to stomach getting beat badly, but not this shite.

This is the LSU Fanbase, FOUR pathetic excuses for not supporting the team on the field.

There is a difference between telling someone they suck vs "controlling peoples thoughts"

Fix the contraflow, traffic mess that happens after the games and people will stay. No one wants to sit in traffic for 2 hours after an 8pm game so they leave early to beat the mess

What made it a must win? They are playing for nothing
You are lucky there were as many people there as there were

Start winning. Fans got super spoiled by Burrow in ‘19. And while they are spoiled, that’s expectation now. We should be close to the top every year. No excuse for this program not to be in the top 5 or 10 every year. At the very damn least in the top 25. This is LSU. Woodward will right the ship.

We were 4-5 with a lame duck coaching staff and tons of injuries/opt outs/whatever you want to call them
What exactly was there to cheer about?

Winning is everything.
Going to a game is an investment and LSU is asking each person to pay $100+ per ticket just to go to the game, then about the same about to park only to be stuck in traffic for hours after because BRPD has no idea what to do. Then they offer up the worst food of any football venue I’ve ever attended so that’s another $15-20 per person at least. You can bring your kids and pay all that double or pay for a babysitter. So for a family of four your asking each family to pay $600-700 and an entire day of their time. And yet the quality of football on the field is awful. The coaches are checked out so the fans have too. You can support a team from your couch for free. This is the new norm. They made the stadium too big without making it actually better and so it’s never going to be the same again.
The only solution is winning and making stadium improvements which enhance the value for your paid admission.

If you want change, stay home.
Don’t give LSU a penny.

Become a relevant program again?

Seriously, you don’t know what can be done? O is terrible at almost every aspect of what he’s supposed to be doing.

Its a reflection of the fanbase.
We would be Mississippi State right now had Saban not arrived. Then tens of thousands of bandwagon fans showed up.
They don't care about the program. They only care about the program when they can brag.

THe answer is obvious and you stated it in your first sentence. Other than that, you just need a smaller stadium. If you want to get a full stadium with 102000 seats you need a performance that warrants that on a cold and windy night (I was there from well before the kickoff until it ended).
If you're gonna put up Vanderbilt level performances, you won't fill up a stadium 2.5 times the size of theirs.
Must win to have a winning season if we can win out or a non losing if we win one of the two remaining is hardly fan inspiring on a cold night. Gotta be an old fart diehard like me to go to that.

Ok Karen.... We have some great fans the problem is you keep expanding the stadium and you get people who go to the games just for the social aspect of being "seen' and to post pics on Facetrash of how you were at the game. The loyal fans stay b/c they love the tigers and football.

spend that money making the place more comfortable and accommodating. Serve food that would spark interest in actually eating it.
We have been in the NE endzone for about 26 years now and it is a nightmare for concessions. This week was made even worse when the stand by my seats ran out of hotdogs in the first quarter so I had to go on a trek to find something for my son to eat at yet another long line
