I'd settle for Art Briles - Pendergast - Orgeron scenario.

Winning cures everything though. Without foles going down, they win the NFC East easily.
*cough* 9ers, Bills *cough*
If not for the clusterfrick that was the handling of Harbaugh by the pre-teen that runs the 9ers, they likely finish better than 8-8, and Marrone had things going in the right direction in Buffalo...Buffalo...and he wanted out.

i think even 7-6, 6-7 would only put him on a scorching seat headed into 2016, would take an epic collapse a la 2012 auburn IMO
i could see kelly being ready to return to college next year
i would fap with krazy glue to make this happen right meow

so much out of our league we can't see them, wtf are you talking about? did you watch the game this past Nov.? we did not win but an argument can definitely be made that LSU was the better team and without the shitty calls we would have won. Another point to the punk Louisiana kids that turn their backs on their home state because they think they have a better chance at stardom being a gump. If a couple of their best players, from Louisiana would have played for the home team we would be in the championship hunt instead of them. f-bama and the kids from La that play for them.

Here's to Les going 10-2 next year and Chip going 12-4.

I think Chip would still get 1 more season after next

I'm not a fan of Oregons offense. I think Kelly is a great coach though. I would rather our offense with a passing game.

You hit the nail on the head. Coach Miles has lost the fire. Maybe, though I doubt it, he's had a wake up call.
I hope so man. Maybe this will inspire him to become ultra-motivated and bring back the "river boat gambler" mentality!

Because it's an outlandish fantasy, that's why I feel that way.

I think the fans will shite on him and his staff the first time he loses....

Miles will not be fired, miles will be allowed to retire from LSU and miles wouldn't retire after an 8 win season unless he point blank lost his mojo For miles to be fired there would need to be a catastrophic failure in either the on field product or compliance/ethics. A 2-10 type of disaster or a petrino type of scandal. 10 yrs of .790 football, two SEC Championships, and a NC get you a lot of rope. Chip Kelly is not leaving the NFL either
If someone would have told you before this season that Chavis would bolt for A&M, because LSU wouldn't match A&M's offer (with all of Chavis' success), would you have believed them? Honestly...
So, if they aren't willing to match offers for Chavis, what makes you think Miles is so safe? A National Title 7 years ago, coupled with a multitude of NFL players since then, may not solidify his employment - maybe at some point in the past Miles could dictate how long he would be employed by LSU, but I really doubt that's the situation now. I really like Miles; however, let's be completely honest, who is out bidding us for miles?

I know miles is very popular with the admin and some key boosters.
He does everything they ask of him and more.
He runs a clean program (relatively) and he graduates players
men in high levels of leadership are risk averse and the challenge of firing the most successful football coach in LSU history had better come with as close to a sure thing replacement as there can possibly be.
I also think the propects of paying out miles, the remaining contracts of the assts and then paying another staff is pretty daunting. Especially in light of the pay scale that HCs and ACs are getting now.
Right now firing Miles and hiring a replacement is a ~$50+mm decision.
It is ~$20mm to fire miles and staff now and a new coach will be ~$5.0-7.0mm for five years plus staff. There has to be a very good reason to pull the trigger and 8-4 two years in a row is not it.

I think another 8-5 season will have Miles on the hot seat, but it won't get him fired after 2015. I think the grumbling would definitely start, though, and he would be under increased pressure for 2016.
I tend to agree with this. He would really have to shite the bed badly next year to be fired. But he will definitely be on the hot seat if next year is like this last one.

Nope. Miles is too fat and happy with things the way they are. It's obvious there has not been much motivation the last 2, maybe 3 years.
He's gonna ride this thing into the ground if the BoS will let him.

I bet some of you hope LSU goes 8-5 so that the possibility of Les getting fired is even on the table.
Posted on 1/1/15 at 6:03 pm to RummelTiger
Rummel, I know you are super brilliant so would you mind explaining why you think Chip would be gone if the Eagles have another bad year next year. Otherwise I am not sure your hypothetical is worth the effort.
thanks in advance.

why would kelly want to face saban every year?
why would he want to come back to college when lots of nfl jobs would probably pay him well.

Wasn't advocating for him, just wondering what people thought about the possibility...
If the LSU Board is as predictable and mendacious as Miles, you already know the answer. He's here for the long haul.
