What are your thoughts on loser mentality fans who assume LSU will lose the first game?

It’s pretty pathetic in my opinion. At one time it was the opposite and LSU would always win the first game. From 2003-2019, we only lost the first game once. (2016)

Coach O started the current skid in 2020 and 2021. Now that Kelly has the money and the talent that the program needs, he can easily turn this trend around. I fully expect to blast Clemson in Week 1 and put the college football world on notice.

I just don’t understand the point of the negativity in our fanbase. What does it accomplish? I guess it’s just part of Louisiana culture to be a defeatist and expect defeat and disaster. Nick Saban called it “catastrophe syndrome” when he was here.

So to all the Negative Nancy’s, we don’t need ya. LSU finna eat.

We will be fine but for the average fan, LSU cannot shake off that walk mentality until they actually shake it off.

That’s all it really is.

Some prognosticators will say, I’m not picking “X” team until they actually prove it on the field.

Just keep being the fan you are.

Also know that this place will be a wildfire if we lose to Clemson.

When Kelly demonstrates that he can get his team prepared for the opening game in the off season and field a competent defense the fans will have more optimism. We have three seasons of results at this point. It's not blind negativity. It's a trend.

About the same as people who want to post this crap in February, more 6 months before the game is even played.

I’ve lost money betting on the Tigers in week 1 four years in a row. I think this is the year we should get a win, but I’m not betting on it.

Also - it’s not the end of the world if you lose. Clemson lost to UGA week 1 last year & still made the playoff

Any day there's LSU football is a good day. No sense in getting upset at the result much less anticipating a negative result before it's over, though it's easier said than done. These days I just try to enjoy travelling to the game or watching it with family and friends. Hopefully those who expect negative outcomes still enjoy the game and the fact there's plenty more after. Personally expect the Nuss bus to pull up and toss Howard's rock all over the imitation stadium ala Burrow in Austin 2019. Looking forward to it either way.

It is the definition of absurdity to think we will win the first game.

We will go 6-2 in conference and finish 9-3.

Cancel these stupid big opening games. Theres a reason most schools dont do it, and only do it every few years. Its psychotic to keep doing it.

A 3 pt loss to clemson on the road will hurt your resume. Comparatively beating an FCS team by 7 it wont be held against you (see Oregon).

Statistical probability is not a loser mentality.

Kelly at LSU
0-3 in openers
5-7 in Top 25 Games
2-5 in Top 10 Games
1-1 in Top 25 True Road Games

I think there is a line between being realistic and hopeful and being a "defeatist"

Clemson is projected to be #7 and a -2.5 point favorite.

After 5 years in a row how could you not expect it..? The burden is on Kelly to prove us wrong.

It’s the same phenomenon as assuming would always win the first game years ago.

No one hates LSU as much as their own "fans"!

They hate BK and want LSU to lose so they can be proven right for not liking BK.

I'm no "negative Nancy", but call me Debbie Downer. I don't feel good about opening on the road in Clemson. That's a road environment more intimidating than the Cocks.

I mean, I hope they win. I've even attended my fair share of these games as I love some of the neutral sites.

But Kelly's teams just look like shite that first week of the year. So if I'm using history as my guide, they'll be underprepared and lose to Clemson. That doesn't mean I'm a loser or that I have a loser mentality. It means I can see shite with my own eyes.

But I hope they win.

So, I suppose you have bet your home on a win in the first game?
If not, you hate BK. Is that your plan? Prove us wrong.

It'll be hot as the hinges of Hades the last Saturday in August, in Clemson. Not encouraging for a team that historically can't win opening games vs P4 opponents

It’s intelligent fans who spot a trend with CBK. Until proven otherwise, these intelligent posters are right to assume CBK will fall on his face once again in week 1

It’s only smart to assume he’ll be banging his little hands on the table once again.
