What are the odds that LSU punt returner fields all the punts clean in the opener

against USC
Let's face it, the muffs against FSU really hurt in both those losses
Let's hope we don't drop any punts assuming the defense can stop the Riley offense

Would be great if we can force USC to punt

Very good. We have a legitimate punt returner now.

We said the same thing last year

Anderson’s muff last year did absolutely nothing. Jordan Travis threw an interception the next play & then we punted after a 3&out.
Game was still 7-7

bullshite it was an opportunity to have the ball and score.
In a second half where we got scored on a lot any score in the first have makes a difference.

Again.. we got the ball back on the next play.. & did nothing with it. 3 & out.
So by your logic, the 3 & out was the issue, not the muffed punt.

To be fair, we actually gained 4 yards.
Muffed punt was recovered on the 22, then we intercepted & got the ball on the 26

Now if the post had been strictly about Muff, that's different

Either your reading comprehension sucks or you are a simpleton. Do you think 1 extra offensive play was the difference?
The play sequence was FSU kicks, LSU muffs the punt, FSU recovers, FSU takes the field, snaps the ball, and throws an interception and LSU has the ball about where it would have if they had held on to the punt.

I’m extremely happy that I’m not predisposed to sitting around in April thinking about something that could possibly go wrong in September. Also should I ever have such errant thoughts, pray I can resist the temptation of writing them down and sharing them on a message board.

Don't disagree, but punt returns are pretty far down my list of concerns. First, let's try to field a defense that can make the opposing offenses actually punt from time to time. Last year, an ace punt returner would have been wasted.

I guarantee we will not muff a single punt return.
Punt muffs are now a 200% probably.

WR from Miss St. going to impress some of y'all

I don’t think we try and return them anymore. So, a fumble is unlikely.
Now, we also don’t field every punt anymore…even the ones that should be caught. So fielding them all is anlso unlikely.

I’m surprised this hasn’t been brought up more in BK’s press conferences. Punt returner has been a wasteland and a liability for the last two seasons. Guess the defense is overshadowing special teams.

Zavion Thomas (M. St.) had a 12.3 yd punt return average last year and Greg Clayton had 12.5 yds per return for LSU.
Difference is Thomas returned half the punts he fielded, and Clayton returned 4 and fair caught 20.

What are the odds that this board won’t be complete babies this season?
