What do yall think about Evans availability and effectiveness? 109 pitches on Monday is a lot for him. I'm assuming we will try not to use him on Saturday but if we have a 1 run lead in the 9th who else do you trust? And if we do put him out there will he be effective?
I'm assuming we will go to Shores first after Kade but if someone is needed beyond those 2 it could get dicey

Jack Kartsonas is no slouch either.

There’s been some chatter out there that they may pitch him on Game 2 instead.
If thats the case we should hold Eyanson for game 3.. assuming we win behind Kade in game 1
Gives AE an extra day if necessary
________
I am not conceding anything in first 2 games. Pitch our best to stay in the winner's bracket. And I am good to ride with Evans on more rest if we go to 3 games. They don't appear to have a good 3rd starter and only 1 good reliever, whom should be spent by Monday.

I wonder if Pearson starts over Brown
More than likely. And Pearson will get at least 2 at bats. Then his spot becomes a PH spot if he doesn't look good.
_________
Frey is our DH for the remainder of the season.

I didn't say anything about DH. PH = pinch hitter. That spot and Braswell's spot are Johnson's go to spots to bring in Larson, Brown, Josh Pearson, Reaves, Beck.

He’s not, but he didn’t pitch as well at the end of the year when their schedule finally got tougher. WVU gave up 40 runs in his last 4 starts with him giving up 12 ER in 20.1 IP and only going more than 5.1 in 1 of the 4 games. As rough as LSU’s bullpen has looked, WVU’s has been worse.

I doubt we see beck again in a meaningful spot

You realize if we win the first 2 there’s no need for a game 3, right? This Isn’t a regional. It’s a 3 game series. You win the first 2 with your aces and rest the horses for Omaha.

Jackson wells to the portal from little rock

I think his argument is to throw Eyanson against their third guy and not their #2 guy.
I think Eyanson is better than their #1 guy.
there is a strong argument that Eyanson is our best pitcher.

I went back and watched Kirn's start against Kentucky. He does hide the ball well, and the most concerning thing for me is that he has a good change up that he relies on often. That's really what I've seen as our kryptonite(see Texas A&M series-3 lefties with good change ups). That being said, we've seen the best the country has to offer on Friday nights all year and come out really well in those games with Kade going for us, so I like our chances.
I also wonder if Jay has the gumption to actually move Curiel down in the lineup. He's way different vs lefties than righties. Frey out the gate might make Kirn/WV pucker up a bit!

This is the only logical choice.

Griffin Kirn vs Kentucky in Regionals last weekend LINK
Looks like Kentucky got some good swings off of him. Kentucky hit a couple balls that almost carried out. One hit the wall. Kirn was topping out at 91-92 mph.

Last week when he pitched at Clemson it was 79 degrees. Heat index on the field for 1-3 pm is going to be 105-108 degrees. I’ll be surprised if this cat can pitch into the 7th or 8th inning. It’s 76 in Morgantown today.
