Did we actually hire a real QB coach? Ensminger clearly isn’t a good one seeing as the last time he did it full time was in 2003 Auburn where they fell flat on their face and Jason Campbell was mediocre. Amazing how the next year when he moves to TE coach and they get a real QB coach, Campbell turns into a first round QB.

ever hear of Brossette, Clyde Edwards Helaire, or Chris Curry. All very solid RB's.

Brosette has disappointed, though I hope he can pull it together.

We've seen none of Curry and a little of CEH so I don't know how you could know how good they are.

I've seen enough, even in limited play, to know they are good quality backs. I've seen Brosettes burst and power and seen CEh's moves, quickness and surprising power as well. I think Curry is going to be good, but that is just kind of my opinion based off of high school, so not much to go on.

The passing game should be featured more out of necessity. For the first time since at least 2012, if not longer, there is not a proven RB who LSU can rely on to carry the offense. There is, however, a glut of talent at the WR spot and it comes in all forms. You basketball-type players in Sullivan and Anderson who should be tough to cover on back-shoulder and jump ball throws. You have guys like Giles and Dillon who could be very good in the slot. Then you have guys like Chase, Davis, Marshall, McMath, etc., etc. who all seem to be beaming with potential. LSU would be crazy NOT to get 3 or 4 of those guys on the field for numerous plays.

Couple that with a QB (Brennan) who's best attribute is a very quick release and good arm, and the ball should be coming out quickly to the WR's in space.

I'm anticipating it will look a lot like the 2008 offense (hopefully without all of the interceptions)

In 2012 we returned spencer ware and Kenny Hilliard who both had carried an SEC championship team at some point the season before. Also Hill was on that squad.

We are the most unproven at RB in ages, but do have some talent there. Though it still has yet to be fully shown on the field. I have confidence in CEH, Brossette (if his fumble problems are solved) and Curry. Also Provens and Lanard should fit in well as role players with the direction they are talking about taking this offense.

Should be throwing more on 1st and 2nd than in 2013

As I remember, LSU passed more on first down in 2013 than we did on second or third.

That's all I was saying.

You can project out one way or the other but none of us really knows what this group will do when they have to shoulder the load. I know they're talented or otherwise they wouldn't be there.

This is what I expect to see coming out of the Spring Game:

LINK

"When he took his first head coaching job at Ole Miss in 2005, he announced that the remnants of David Cutcliffe’s offense would marry a zone-blocking scheme with USC’s two-back system, on top of then-coordinator Noel Mazzone’s NC State passing offense that made Philip Rivers a star.

The result was an over-managed disaster. Orgeron screamed. Often. At anyone, player or coach, and anywhere, too."

I don't think O is an idiot. An idiot doesn't land one of the best jobs in college football. I do think he is in over his head as far as leading LSU to a SEC or NC. I do think last season showed some real weaknesses on his part.

This is O's season to prove he's the man. If he does, he will receive the credit. If he doesn't, he will continue to catch shite. If you want someone to blame for the unhappiness on the Rant, try Alleva.

Same here and I think he's a good football coach, just hasn't proven to be a good head coach. I have my doubts that he has the make up to do that, but as you say this year is the prove it year.

Considering we don’t have a true #1 RB on the roster for the first time this century IF we feature a passing attack is it more of necessity or design?
. I am not ready to go this far yet. Obviously we don’t have one as talented as Fournette or Guice but let’s see what these freshman can do before we say that. I would call the RBs a unknown right now. Even if they have to do a RB by committee that isn’t the worst thing in the world. If you think about it except for Fournette and Guice the RB Corp has been pretty much a committee job for the last 15 years.

Orgeron should've given a lot more carries to CEH or Brossette last year. Mistake on his part.
