I for one think people are missing the whole point of what an offense has to do to score points. People want us coming out in 4 or 5 receiver sets and throwing the ball on every play... it’s not about the plays you run, it’s about being capable of recognizing when you need to run a certain play and being able to execute that play in the heat of the moment. We actually threw a good bit last year, and for many years prior. The problem is that we had trouble recognizing where our hot routes were, where pressure was coming from, or where the holes were going to be, and when we did have the perfect play called, we had trouble executing those short to intermediate routes and creating separation.

There are a lot of things that go into quarterbacking, and there are a lot of things that other ppl on the team can do to help the QB. Just a few examples of what I mean are things like the center helping in calling out coverages (I haven’t seen that much at all) or the QB climbing the pocket instead of breaking out of it or pump-faking the ball to freeze a safety or backer for a split second to help a receiver gain separation.

The details of playing and executing the position is what separates the best teams from the rest. And that’s something we’ve been lacking on... and it shows when we play the bamas and Auburn’s and Florida’s .

Not replying to your post, you were just last in the thread. It has really gotten pathetic that any positive post is heavily down voted and the negative replies are up voted. And I also agree with you post.

WR group has a lot to prove, you don't win with potential. People need to step up in a big way, or get out of the way to make way for younger guys who deliver.

When has LSU had a QB since Mike Flynn??? For some reason we can have great defenses, great RB's & no QB!!!

Yeah, Mett threw for 3000 yards in a season. Not bad I guess.

The only concern I have with the offense this year is whether or not Ensminger can teach the quarterback how to read different defenses. I think he along Jerry Sullivan can come up with different route concepts to beat the coverages, it'll be up to the qb to read it correctly.

Are you even an LSU fan? How does an LSU forget ZM?

ZM is the only LSU QB to throw for over 2500 yards two years in a row.

This all sounds great. But it all depends on having an effective qb. Something Orgeron has no history of producing and LSU hasn’t had in years.

.that has much more about what Narcisse and Brennan have to say about it and not a whole lot to do with who Orgeron had at Qb at Ole Miss or who lSU has had at QB in the past. So really what you saying means nothing, zip, zippo, nada

The Rant is a odd place these days

I am posting about what I think I will see and hope to see. Nothing else and nothing more

This staff will be working to improve the passing game

If we improve our passing game it will help win football games

If we do win it will have nothing to do with CEO

As we all know on the Rant - CEO is a idiot and anyone who does not agree with that statement is a idiot !

Anyone expecting LSU to get better while CEO is the coach is a idiot !!

this idiot is done posting for today

the next time I expect to see LSU get better I will talk to my wife about it and not post it on the Rant

If I do I really am a Idiot

What choice do they have? They didn't recruit any running backs and we have none on the team.

ever hear of Brossette, Clyde Edwards Helaire, or Chris Curry. All very solid RB's.

Considering we don’t have a true #1 RB on the roster for the first time this century IF we feature a passing attack is it more of necessity or design?

One of the backs will emerge as the "#1 RB" though it will still be a committee as in the past. But to answer the question obviously by design.

Since the season ended and we hired Ensminger, I have expected a season not unlike the one we had in '13, so long as Brennan steps up big time.

I think it will much more diverse and open offense than we saw in 2013. Should be throwing more on 1st and 2nd than in 2013 and feature more shotgun and 3 -4 WR packages. And yes, as Brennan or Narcisse go(and/or perhaps McMillon) so goes the effectiveness of this offense.

I like that you made an attempt to say you’re not on the CEO train. What a joke

Many folks, such as myself, are not on "the CEO train" but are on the "LSU train" and just aren't anti O at this time.

Just my opinion, but I think if Brosette was a very solid RB he would have seen some meaningful action by now.

I am intrigued by Curry, CEH and Provens though. They just have no experience, so we will have to wait to see what they can do with meaningful snaps.
