I'm generally a pumper but even I am having a hard time believing now. It can still happen but the turnaround needs to be dramatic and very soon.

I think people are being realistic. There’s a real chance we will be sitting at 4-11 or 3-12 at the half way point
That means we have to go 12-3 the last 5 series to get to 16-14 or 15-15.
That’s a rough spot to be in

If you don't expect to win the series, why even play?

We are still hunting a legitamate lead off hitter and #9 hitter. The possible 4 and 5 hole hitters are at number 2. What are you missing?

This team will not make it to the SEC tournament at this rate.

If we go 11-2, then sure there would be some optimism...

I honestly don't think we do. I don't think we get out of Knoxville with less than 2 losses, and that's being hopeful that we don't get swept- which is a real possibility.

I said a couple weeks ago, LSU's only chance is to completely concede game 3 in a series. You hope to win with Holman plus whoever game 1, and then everyone in the bullpen to finish game 2 with a W. Don't save anyone. You accept you will get blasted that game anyway, go ahead and use a midweek dude.
People laughed and said we can't do that, but it could have won the Florida and Vandy series. We got run-ruled in game 3 anyway. 2 more wins and we'd be 5-7 with a couple solid series wins.

No, it won't build you to a complete team, but we're not going to be one this year. But it would have us around .500 in league play, and we'd make a regional, slim chance we may even host the first one. I can't see this team making it out of a regional, so don't sweat the rotations.

I think it's too late this year.

They're to the point where they need to win every series possible. If they win the final 6 series(which is not gonna happen) that will be .500.

I think they may have to start conceding to everyone's ace, and what not.

This is a rough place to be.

That happened a bit last season too, Jay has some odd batting orders sometimes.

How fixing even that seems imminent and points to us turning a corner. I hope we do but I don't expect it at this point. I'll still watch every game unless it conflicts with other obligations but I will tamp my expectations until things start look to be turning around.

I will always watch or listen to every game, still onboard. I agree that last year we did have multiple lead off hitters and combinations but in all fairness that was because we had so much! If you loose someone to injury let's look at this option or that option. I cannot remember a bad option at 1, 9 or 4 and 5. We had holes but Thompson was the usual suspect with an occasional good game similar to Braswell but both could play little league D. Maybe Larson is the leadoff answer and Bingham at 9. We have to average 8 runs or more in SEC play to have a chance from the pitching consistency and D extending innings for all foes.

What pitchers would you throw in game 2 then? I haven’t seen any midweek guys or game 3 guys that would do any better than what Jay threw game 2.

What? Being optimistic for a team and coach that won the title last yr? One that is a few plays away from solid conference wins? One that will be in Regionals with a fresh slate?

LSU needs to be able to win game 1 with Holman and somebody else besides Herring.

If they can do that I could see them winning game 2 with Jump/Herring.

Game 3 they are pretty much F’d at the moment.

We suck and it’s ok. Won it all last year, can’t win every year.
