How many times were receivers wide open and jumping mad about not getting the ball, and having to block for the QB?

So we should throw the ball to receivers who aren’t getting separation and space? JD definitely should have pulled the trigger a little more, but a lot of this was due to his receivers not getting the separation and space they needed.

No offense but did you actually go to the games or watch them on TV? The reason is my son watched them mostly on TV and I watched in person - and he and I have had this discussion millions of times. Clearly almost every play were 2 wide arse open receivers - yet there were not passes thrown. TV makes you “assume” they were covered.
If you attended the games and still maintain your position, then I’ll respectfully agree to disagree. Cheers.

I went to all the home games except for the UAB and NM games. His receivers weren’t getting enough separation. I made sure to watch the receivers running their routes too, not just the ball.

I laughed when I read this, as I also would jump up and yell “throw the ball”. Makes me feel more at ease with my overall state of mind.

It depends.

The QB and WR know where the WR is going.

Just because a DB is running with the WR at the start of the play doesn't mean the WR will remain covered.

If the WR is to run a deep cross and the DB is to the outside, then the QB should be reasonably confident that the WR will be open when he makes his cut, provided there is no safety help.

Very simplistic, I know, but if you wait till the guy is open to throw it, then he may not be open when the ball arrives.

It a reason backside throws are so hard to defend. The DB has very little chance of defending that pass. Most just hope to knock it loose after the WR gets his hands on it.

Or maybe the safeties and LBs aren’t allowing any kind of space or potential to throw the ball to. It seems like almost every one of Nabors catches have been tough catches with guys all over him as soon as he catches the ball.

I said "throw the damn ball" during aTm as my 5 year old was in the room.

Wife enjoyed that a lot

Even when JD did 'good' in the sec game... yes. The first throw the guy was waiting forever for the throw. Literally standing there at the end of his route. I know all the JD pumpers gonna hate, but damn your boy can't see anyone open for miles.

Was super happy when Nuss let it fly. We couldn’t set up the run game with JD5 because he wasn’t making those throws

Sorry, this simply isn't true. I went to every game except Tennessee and there were guys running wide open all year. I wish we had access to all-22 footage.

I did too and there were and there weren’t. Mostly were though and you can see a lot of the breakdowns on YouTube.

The receivers were not supposed to cause separation, but only bring the defender with them to open up running space for JD5

It’s a difference in throwing when they’re open and throwing them open. That said, almost every passing play!

Looked at buddy half way through first qtr of ole miss game and said our biggest problem is this kid has no clock. Every great qb gets the ball in his hand and knows instinctually when to throw it away. I don’t think I’d seen him throw a ball away just based on timing the entire year. It’s one of the most important aspects of the position and he doesn’t have it. You could tell later in season they were coaching him hard on it but it still isn’t instinctual for him.
