Exactly this is the rub. For those that did not experience the Curley Hallman days avoid the hot coach riding the coat tails of the hot quarterback. What a disaster those days were for LSU.

We have talented backs they are just not being given appropriate opportunities yet. I have faith this will improve shortly.

re: Taron Francis

What I like about Taron Francis was that he committed to LSU early and maintained his commitment and never wavered. Amongst a sea of greedy 5 star receivers promising, then coming and going he remained steadfast in his commitment. I truly wish him well as hopefully the next multi million dollar LSU receiver to hit the big leagues.
Clearly the response is don’t buy cars from the Matt Bowers auto group in LA.
I agree with your initial statements and would also add I know very little about special teams coaching but re his coaching history I would imagine you start as an assistant at a Penn State a very good program and do well. People like you and give you good reviews. You take a job at Baylor and do well and move from assistant to the special teams job at Texas Southern and then Grambling. You then do exceptionally well at Grambling, people give you good reviews and you get the offer in the big time, LSU. Sounds like an ideal hire!

re: I hope they fire Dameyune Craig too

I too have no time for Dameyune Craig and hope he is part of the clean out BUT when you think of it maybe his character flaws, recruiting incident and the way he behaved after the historic overtime debacle, are part of the ongoing problems at A&M and it is actually better for LSU to have him remain. Just thinking out wide.
After watching one of the worst defensive efforts by an LSU team, I kept coming back to the number of flat out missed tackles. Here is a suggestion. We know Australian Aussie rules trained kickers can punt but the best football tacklers are Australian Rugby LEAGUE players. Watch 5 minutes of NSW Blues vs Queensland Reds in any State of Origin match and you will see what I mean. Tackling is the backbone of the game. Bring in the best defensive Australian Rugby League analyst for 1 month in spring or fall camp and I promise they won’t miss as many tackles again. Hell some would come for next to nothing, a few shrimp po boys and a trip to Bourbon St.

Money talks. How could Dominic McKinleys mother the “educator” allow her son to select Texas A&M in light of the treatment Dr Kathleen McElroy received as a black woman selected to lead the school of journalism. The school had to settle with a $1 million payout after her contract was altered and the job offer modified. Poor form.
I laughed when I read this, as I also would jump up and yell “throw the ball”. Makes me feel more at ease with my overall state of mind.

re: LSU has fallen because of Coach O

There is no doubt that Coach O had the program heading in the wrong direction. Brian Kelly has been impressive as a talking head but the level of coaching last week was poor and you can’t blame O for that. Special teams is diabolically bad and they aren’t improving. The play calling at the end of the first half still has me baffled. On a positive note LSU had no luck Saturday. The bounce of the ball seemed to favour TN. Fingers crossed we give Florida a football lesson with or without a shoe incident.
I also listened to the interview and agree with your synopsis. I thought Daronte was well spoken, measured and informative. I wish him well.
Wow that’s tough. If he only did something really really really bad he could have got a presidential pardon. All forgiven.

Coach E is a good man who has been faithful to LSU. He is to be admired.

I would like to thank you for your input to the recruiting rant when your son was being so actively engaged to play for LSU. I personally can’t wait for him to play for the Tigers. Let’s face it 2 lock down corners are are always better than 1. Just as an aside I still feel what The Surtains did was wrong.
