To be honest though, the best preparation would have been playing a real game against a real opponent. Practice is still practice and not a game in front of thousands of people (most important for the QB).

First off, imagine the hell Miles and Alleva would have caught if we played the game on Sunday and we had a serious injury.

Secondly, why shorten your rest week right before a conference game? You can't deny that gives State an advantage if we had one fewer days of rest and preparation.

You also have to consider the advantage we have for having an entire game of film on State and they have virtually none on us. You could see from the beginning of the game we were going to get a little creative with our plays and formations. Now State has nothing on that.

No doubt it was a shite show, especially with the lack of info while waiting. That being said, I get why they made the decision to cancel.

Have any of you bothered to think past your own self interests as to how that would even be possible?

Could you have potentially kept the officiating crew in town to officiate? Maybe, but even that would be doubtful. But did you even consider the MASSIVE undertaking it is to put on a sporting event for 90.000 people? the security needed? The parking attendants? The catering and food which would have to be schedule to show up AGAIN today. Ushers, security, etc.

It would have been 100% impossible to play this game in front of a crowd today or Monday after already trying on Saturday. Impossible.

This isn't REMOTELY like 2005 and the Rita Tennessee game as that game was moved days in advance which gave the university time to replan and did not already go through expendables which could not possibly be replaced in under a day.

In short, there is no such contingency plan in the history of history that could have enabled LSU to tell everyone, "Hey...come back tomorrow and we'll try again."

Think 9-11 here. That forced nationwide rescheduling...so when we played AU the last game, so did everyone else in the SEC that lost that 9-11 Saturday's game. The SEC Championship was pushed back a week to accommodate the SEC schedule extending a week. Without knowing the details, I'll assume it was probably a legalistically clusterfrick getting all those pieces moved even two months out.

But LSU needs to be chastised because they didn't have a contingency in place for an event that has not happened in Tiger stadium since WWI.

Well...good news is that LSU fans are still miserable assholes, so there's something you can always count on!

They say "ignorance is bliss", but the ignorance of our fans is not bliss. It's downright sad. I agree with you.

who says their has to be fans at the game to get it in.

Solves a lot of the logistics.

But keep badmouthing people know it alls.

Total BS that the game could not have been played Monday. Les and JA just didn't want to. You could open the lower bowl to general admission and sell water only. It's not like Mcneese isn't anything but a short bus ride. There are valid arguments on if it's better for the team or not but not logistics. Should have played.

Even though it would have been great to get a walk through game before entering SEC play, I think the program knows it's more important to start preparing for Miss St. on Sunday.

LOL if you think we haven't been prepping for state for weeks. Do you really think we've been game planning for McNeese last week?

Regardless of opponent, I'm sure they were put on a scheduled program for the week. They probably had scouting reports in their hands on Monday and executed on their keys and reads in practice with respect to the scouting report every day leading up to their final walk through.

It probably wasn't as demanding as a normal SEC opponent, but I hope they would follow the same routine week in and week out.

You don't think so?

if either team had scored before the weather delay, would it have made a difference in making up the rest of the game? I'm still confused how you can start a game and not finish it. It's one thing to cancel a game that never had an opening kickoff, but this game was in progress.

Do you not think State already has a advantage for having a game under there belt to iron out any wrinkles they may have. I think we are at more of a disadvantage for not having real game experience than having film to show.

My question is what if it was an SEC west game scheduled for last night? Would that game be made up or played Sunday? How are the conference games handled in the event of a weather delay/cancellation?

I'm sure late last week was spent working on things we wanted to work on this week. But we were not "game planning" for McNeese. I guarantee we have already spent considerable time game planning for state.

I think a game today would have done much more good than harm.

Agree UpToPar and LSU could have paid to house the McNeese team or done it on campus. Networks probably didn't care.

Maybe Alleva should consult with NASCAR on contingency plans for weather cancellations. Daytona 500 has larger crowds than Tiger Stadium so your impossible because of crowd size argument doesnt hold water.

The fact is this game could have been played sunday.

this is one of the dumbest things ive ever seen on the rant. let that sink in for a second.

you think Miles doesnt know that McNeese, Clanga, Auburn is the perfect gradual progression for Harris, who has everything a QB could ever hope for except reps? you think Miles doesnt know the season hinges on how Harris plays? you think he'd rather have Brandon begin vs Clanga, and for his second overall start to be on the road after how bad that went last time?

Miles, more than anyone, wanted to play this game. if it was at all possible, we would have done so.

people here seem to be overlooking this part. we're not the only team involved here, we cant just tell McNeese to come back in 12 hours.

I think you've hit the nail directly on the HEAD !
It's the athletic departments JOB, to consider alternatives, contingencies etc. IF they are incapable of doing so, HIRE an entity that CAN !!!!
