I think Skenes has to throw. But I would start Hurd instead. He only went 3 innings Monday and he did well vs this team. Let’s see where the game is at in the 4th, then bring Skenes in if necessary.
I disagree. Imo, Skenes either starts or he doesn’t pitch at all. He’s your horse and the best pitcher in the country. Don’t try to overthink it.

We are due for an offensive explosion. We have faced the best pitching by far in this tournament and put together 3 really good games to win. But it is only a matter of time before our bats explode.

They squeaked by Stanford. They squeaked by us. If you listen to their press conference after the game, they are pressing and they even said they have to grind harder today. I think we can beat them with or without Skenes.
I went to bed thinking Skenes had to pitch today and now I’m not as certain. I think you are right about them being kind of fraudulent. They built their offense for a Cracker Jack park and you can tell they don’t have an answer playing at the big field

Assume Hurd starts tonight. Dominates through 6 and LSU has a 4 run lead. Wake cuts it to 1 off of Money and Guidry in the 9th. You definitely bring in Skenes to close it out, no question.
If Hurd can start and the staff retains a comfortable lead all game, you may not need Skenes at all. He’ll then be fresh for game 1 Saturday with us normal 6 days rest.

Cooper 1-3
Hurd 4-6
Skenes 7-9
I went from not loving Cooper to now wanting him with the ball all the time.

Skenes starts, we get an 8-0 lead thru 3 innings. Pull him and let the bullpen finish off the game.
Skenes is available to start game 2 of the championship.

Hurd starts, 8-0 lead after 4. Let him go as long as he can. Win with Money, guidry, Cooper to clean up. Skenes starts Saturday.

Yeah, I shouldn’t have been so absolute about not at all. However, it would take a situation like that or extremely similar to it to use him at all if he doesn’t start.

We are hitting 0.228 and will be going up against the an All-American pitcher. If we struggle to score, then it could come down to a battle of bullpens, and that is an advantage to WF.
Skenes could pitch a no-hitter and Wake's pitcher could hold us scoreless on 5 hits. That's even-steven, no matter how dominant Skenes is.
Louder's sub 2.00 ERA is almost as low as Skenes', and he is not a huge strikeout guy (131 Ks in 108 innings), so he forces a lot of ground balls.
Our key against him may be to lay off the sweeping slider that seems to kill us as it dives low and outside to right handers...

Agree. We limit the walks and HBP and we win.

I sat there in the 2nd last night feeling a bit down worried how we might not have enough arms to make it through the game. Plus their pitcher was dealing.
Now, I’m fairly confident Christian Little can start today and go 6+ innings giving up 2 runs or less

No...Wake is convinced Skenes is throwing and its in their heads...you are winning the mental game with them, they did not want to face Skenes. You bring Ty or Hurd out there you have let them mentally back in the game...
When Skenes is out there the team really plays with confidence as well...you ride that horse to the National Championship series...

Tenn lsu and Stan has very good pitching. That has something to do with the low BS for wake.

He’s 6th in the nation in strikeouts. The difference between Skenes (200 Ks) in 1st to Stanford’s Quin Matthews (158 Ks) in second is twice as large as the gap between Matthews and Lowder.

Jesus, these averages all suck. frick this stadium and frick these bats (even with the new balls, they're still unnecessarily shitty).

The two best hitting teams got bounced, so I guess we’re all lucky to be here.
