I understand and respect that sentiment.

Me, I'm a pragmatist and would rather have the insurance - better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

As long as Ole Missy loses at least one more conference game I'll breathe a little easier.

We are rooting for Ole Miss if LSU runs the table and needs a quality win for the CFP resume, but if aTm wins LSU would slide up 1 spot in the Bowl selection order.

No.. screw Texas A&M. I want them to lose as many games as possible to make our last game at Texas A&M as much of a cake walk as possible. Kill their hope.

After Texas A&M Ole Miss still has to play Alabama, at Arkansas, and Mississippi State. They could lose any and all of those three games. Let them beat Texas A&M then hope they lose to one of the remaining teams on their schedule.

We need to win out regardless so it actually helps our chances to get into the playoffs if they continue to win.

Besides, either them or Bama will get a second load anyway (could be a 3rd loss for Bama if we beat them too)

I’m assuming the OP is anticipating a loss to Bama. But Bama would also need to lose a game as well.

No. I suspect the OP is trying to state if LSU beats Alabama, then a LSU win over Arkansas or A&M, coupled with another Ole Miss loss would clinch the SEC West title for LSU.

It sets up a scenario where if Ole Miss loses this week (their second SEC loss) and LSU beats Alabama (giving Alabama it's second SEC loss), then all LSU would have to do is win one more SEC game to clinch the West by virtue of the fact the worst LSU could finish in conference is 6-2. LSU would own tiebreakers over Alabama and Ole Miss and every other SEC West team already has 3 conference losses.

Regardless of what happens in the Ole Miss v A&M game this week, if LSU beats Alabama they will go into the Arkansas game with a chance to clinch the West that day.

I think he is like me: he detest Ole Misses but pulling for Granny Fisher and the most expensive 8-4 team money can buy isn't easy either.

Ole Miss needs one more loss to increase our chances. This week, 4&8 has a chance to hand them that loss. I love the Tigers enough to hold my nose and wish for an Ole Miss loss - which is NOT the same as rooting for an aggie win.

Ole Miss isn’t winning out. They will most certainly lose another game. I’ll take my chances on that.

I hope they absolutely destroy 4&8 this weekend. My Aggie hate is currently at its all-time high, and yet it still continues to grow week to week and year to year.

I’ll be honest, I am having a hard time deciding which team I despise more - Bama or Aggie. I think it might be Aggie. At least Bama has the skins to back up their bluster. Plus this feels like the sunset years of Saban.

So now I am ranking this:

Aggie
Bama
Florida
Ole Miss
Auburn
Arkansas
UGA
Miss State
Tennessee
South Carolina
Kentucky
Missouri
Vanderbilt

Therefore, Go Rebs!

I guess you're assuming Ole Miss will drop a game or two. LSU/Bama controls their own destiny in the West. One slip up from either and Ole Miss controls their own destiny.

Frick that. We just win out then we have tiebreakers over everybody.

I was basing my response off of the OP's subject that we have to pull for Ole Miss to lose this weekend. Technically, LSU doesn't need Ole Miss to lose since LSU now holds the tiebreaker. But a OM loss would give LSU a game "cushion" over both OM and Alabama IF LSU were to beat Alabama.

Best case scenario: LSU beats Alabama next weekend, then LSU beats Arkansas the following week while Ole Miss loses to Alabama the same day. That would make the A&M inconsequential in terms of the SEC Championship game.
